Just seen it come on my news feed that there's talks of pubs re opening April with alcohol ban.
Can you really see many going?
I don't go to the pub often. Maybe 3 times a year max for a meal and don't drink anyway but obviously the vast majority of people probably have an alcoholic beverage.

Lots of pubs around here have your regulars that are in there noon till Night supping a few pints, my dsf is one that only goes for a few pints. Would never eat or buy a soft drink.

Would it be a good move?

This is a classic example of the govt testing the waters by leaking a ‘possible’ policy to certain journalists, letting it spread across the internet and seeing what reaction it gets.

Won’t happen judging by the commentary on my Twitter feed at the moment...

It's already happened in Scotland - and copied in wales so I wouldn't be quite so sure on that.

HauntedPencil · 06/02/2021 21:01

@BeanieB2020

Definitely wouldn't go to a pub at night for dinner if no alcohol, but I'd go for a nice ploughmans lunch on a Sunday afternoon
Probably but it's then putting the onus on pin workers to limit drinks - people could go around several pubs and out staff in difficult poitions to say no
HauntedPencil · 06/02/2021 21:02

Sorry I replied to the wrong person - I'm sure there wouldn't be attempts to obtain several ploughman's lunches in a row Grin

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 06/02/2021 22:43

Would pop to a beer garden half way through a walk but for a night out? No

DianaT1969 · 06/02/2021 22:45

I'm pretty sure the Daily Mail is just making that up. Their usual weekend speculation trying to provoke a response.

Yep, sounds about right lol They're seriously trying to whip froth up lately, they're worse than ever.

The Prime Minister has already denied this is going to happen so it isn't worth commenting on further.

RedToothBrush · 06/02/2021 22:54

Hip flasks.

That is all I have to say on the matter.

TravellingTilbury · 06/02/2021 23:14

Yes I'd go to watch the football. Oh and to use someone else's central heating and see some smiling faces.

TravellingTilbury · 06/02/2021 23:17

Even a lemonade and a game of table football would be great.

I am not a drinker but a pub with no booze is pointless. If the concern is that somehow drinking will lead to poor social distancing then the solution is a two drink 1.5 hour Max stay. Everyone can go, reconnect with friends and then leave making room for
More people and hopefully steady trade foe the pub.

Probably but like I said it's happened here so it's not that wild a suggestion - he's probably had the call off the Wetherspoons scarecrow
Remmy123 · 07/02/2021 19:51

I'll bring my own booze in

CarryOnPlainHunting · 07/02/2021 19:55

I’d go anywhere by that stage. So fed up of having nowhere to go except walks around my village.

Tumbleweed101 · 07/02/2021 22:26

Would probably go just for somewhere different to go right now but soft drinks in pubs are so expensive when compared to alcoholic drinks so that would put me off. I don't mind spending out for a glass of wine but paying nearly the same for a glass of coke doesn't have the same chill out vibe.

DdraigGoch · 08/02/2021 08:36

@Redbrickwall

It’s absolutely ridiculous. Like opening a cinema without films. Madness
That didn't stop the Welsh Government doing it.
