Itching for my jab

Anyone else feel like this?

Thrilled at the latest news re transmission, and even more eager for my jab. Every time someone I know gets vaccinated I feel elated for them and a pang of envy strikes me, too.

I’m 32 with no known health conditions so it’s estimated I’ll be offered it May-June. The way we are going, I think it could be sooner!

If I just push the South African variant to the back of my mind, I can almost see a light at the end of the tunnel..

I do believe by August we might be able to go on a summer holiday without “the fear.”

I'm really looking forward to mine too. I can imagine feeling the joy and relief so many are reporting after having theirs. I'm in my late 30s with no clinical vulnerabilities but as I live alone, have been feeling vulnerable in case I get a bad case of covid and have no one to help me.

I think the roll out will slow down as they move onto give everyone their 2nd jabs but still optimistic I may get mine by the summer...

Same here, DH (NHS) had his first last year and the booster in early January, some of my friends have had it and DD (CEV) is getting hers on Saturday. I'm 65+ and thinking it shouldn't be too long now.

doireallyneedaname · 03/02/2021 09:18

Definitely won’t be long for you. My partners parents (65 & 67) were invited and getting theirs this week.

My dm had hers last week. She’s nearly 80 abs CEV (double heart bypass with valve problems and she had radiotherapy a few months ago).
Fil is having his. He had prostate cancer.
Mil had hers last week and her dh had both his do he’s sorted.
I have asthma, it’s not severe, but one minute they say we’re not at risk and others that I am at risk. Anyway, I can’t wait to have the jab.
I think it’s area dependent as mil and her dh are NE, he was on of the first. We’re SE, so more populated I’d say.

Cannot wait - I'm in Group 5. I know we will still have to stick to the guidelines, but at least some of the fear of being anywhere near anybody else should recede.

Rockbird · 03/02/2021 09:35

That's exactly it. I'm group 6 and desperate for it. I'll still distance and wear a mask and everything we're supposed to do but I'll take that panicky feeling away. I can't wait.

jiggetyjig · 03/02/2021 12:14

Yes,I can't wait for the vaccine.I know we'll still need to wear masks etc,but it will take away some of the fear of being seriously ill.
I'm in group 8 so should have had both doses by October, although I'm hoping the rate of vaccinations will be ramped up and I'll get mine sooner.

OverTheRainbow88 · 03/02/2021 12:17

@doireallyneedaname

Do you mind if I ask roughly what area you are in?

My parents are 66 and I’m sooooo desperate for them to get the vaccine!!!!

MatildaStoker · 03/02/2021 12:17

Agree, I can’t wait until it’s my turn to get it.

Although the roll out will probably slow down a bit once they start giving people their second jabs, I think that’ll start in March sometime if they’re leaving 12 weeks between doses?

Still, I’m looking forward to it!

Otherplans · 03/02/2021 12:21

I had my first last week. I'm cev. I felt very emotional and kept saying thank you.

superfuckinglue · 03/02/2021 12:29

I have just had Covid but am still panicking about getting it again and the new variants. I am in Group 6 and should be due mine in March, wish it would hurry up Grin
