Did your symptoms come on suddenly or slowly?

DS tested positive on Saturday. He got it from my ex on the Monday/Tuesday.

Today I've got a sore throat and runny nose. I do get bad allergies though. Feel a bit shit but got other stuff going on so that isn't too much of a surprise.

Does this thing generally come on all of a sudden or slowly? Is there even a 'normal'?

I think it presents differently for each person - it certainly has for us .

DH and DD were similar and symptoms came on suddenly. For myself it was gradual. My dd was a close contacts of someone at nursery who had it so were on the look out for symptoms and got tested on day 1.

DH had a temp, sneezing, aches , feeling like a head cold on day 1. Loss of smell& taste sudden day 5. Upset tummy day 5. Sneezing day 5-8
Dd3 temp only at night for 5 nights, sneezing day 1- 7. No other symptoms.
Me - not entirely sure of day 1 as I have had no temp. My throat hurt a bit for a few days and gradually stopped hurting.
. Insomnia and sinus pain have been main symptoms coming on gradually then reduced smell day 5ish and by day 6 lost completely. None of us had a cough. We all felt under weather but touch wood has been a mild case. Currently on day 8/9.

Good luck - I hope that you and your DS feel better soon.

Different for every 1 my bro tested postive the next day after being in contact with Some1 who was postive. unavoidable he's a carer and was testing a resident who had symptoms (was positive). His symptoms then came out a day later so 2 days after catching it.

Mine was fairly slowly.
I had breathlessness and a tight chest for a few days.
I went to the doctors as was concerned I was getting a chest infection. I had no cough, temperature, etc. At that point.
My blood pressure was sky high so I was rushed to a and e and ended up in hospital. On admission I had a covid test.
This came back the next day - positive.
Within 24 hours I gradually developed a cough - though it was nowhere near as bad a cough as when I had pneumonia previously. That was almost a week after the breathlessness and chest pains started though.
I had a slight raised temperature for about half a day that day. This was accompanied by achy joints which lasted longer.
A few days later I had one day where everything had a metallic taste.

I started to get a sore tongue last weekend, Tuesday morning I had ear ache and felt a bit crap, but put it down to an ear infection as get them quite a lot in the winter. On Tuesday afternoon i read about the sore tongue being a lesser known symptom, so got a test on Tuesday afternoon and received my positive result on Wednesday. No idea what day I'm on really, but I feel a bit crap, groggy and a bit dizzy, no temp, no cough and no loss of taste or smell. Just tired

Interesting question. Flu is known for coming on very fast. But I’ve not heard much about whether cv is fast or gradual onset. I think most people seem to describe gradual but the sudden loss of smell is obviously sudden.
Interested to her what people say.

Thanks everyone.

Was in total denial on Tuesday evening, when I went to bed though I had the most hideous body aches all night so went and tested Wednesday morning and got my
Positive on Thursday morning. I pretty much knew it was covid by then.

My first symptoms were very very similar to allergies.

I now have what I would describe as the worst hangover of my life mixed with a head cold. I am EXHAUSTED. Still for my taste for now, but struggling to eat today as I feel so sick.
