Daughter has snuffles, should she go to school

DD has got a stuffy nose, no streaming snot, no cough, no temperature or loss of taste/smell, she is fine in herself. Both DH and I are key workers and working tomorrow.
Should I send her into school ?
I’m being tested twice a week and DH has had vaccine and getting tested.
In normal circumstances I’d give her antihistamine and send her in but I’m not sure if I should in the current climate.

How old is she?

Randomschoolworker19 · 02/02/2021 20:05

No, get her tested. Probably nothing but better to be safe than sorry. The school will thank you for it.

Popfan · 02/02/2021 20:26

I'm a teacher, I would be very grateful to you if you didn't send her in and got her tested. Rightly or wrongly I would feel anxious if she were in my class.

If it's anything like my daughters school they will have called you to collect her seconds after the first sniffle. Even if it's a lone, one off sniffle.

Have you got fast testing nearby? Take her for that and once you have the all clear (30mins) she can go in.

No

ElectraBlue · 02/02/2021 21:18

No. Pretty obvious I would say...

Deffo get tested. It can present bizarrely in children.

Longdistance · 02/02/2021 22:10

I had the sniffles before Christmas. I saved my colleagues the misery of my cold by going off sick and went for a Covid test. It was negative, but at least I didn’t spread my germs.
Don’t send her in.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 02/02/2021 22:23

Its tricky though as tehcnically you can't get tested with those symtpoms. I would though.

Indecisive12 · 02/02/2021 22:59

That’s exactly how I started I’m afraid. I’d keep her home.

Rowenasemolina · 02/02/2021 23:02

No.

LucyLockdown · 02/02/2021 23:11

You should get her tested.

beckypv · 02/02/2021 23:23

I was in paediatric outpatients at a major hospital yesterday and their covid sign said you shouldn’t come in if you or your family how nasal discharge, congestion or sneezing, however mild it was.

beckypv · 02/02/2021 23:25

Along with the standard symptoms plus sore throats. Felt like it was a good list for children and should probably be applied to schools in this lockdown

inquietant · 02/02/2021 23:25

No, keep her home

Haenow · 02/02/2021 23:29

I’m willing to bet good money they’d send her home anyway, so best to get a test for her. :)
