I don't think they looking for Kent vatient surely that ship has sailed as it would escaped London and South east quite quickly over Christmas and people still travelling South west to South East for work.
What they looking for is Kent varient slightly mutated so b117 with e448k which is present in the south African and Brazilian varients which they say are more transmissible and less effective with vaccines.
I'm not at all scientific and have searched hard to understanding
www.sciencemediacentre.org/expert-reaction-to-document-from-phe-about-the-b-1-1-7-variant-including-reference-to-detection-of-the-e484k-mutation-in-some-b-1-1-7-genomes/
Now if you look at selected postcodes they like 4 corners of city clifton/ Bedminster.
Bs16 and other east areas and bs37.
Its unlikely it jumps areas that this new varient is within other Bristol areas not listed.
They need a decent enough test sample to work out how prevalent this new strain is.
I don't know if its exactly same as Liverpool or its a special edition Bristol coronal virus.
Hopefully in a few weeks we will know more.
