Have you got private health cover?

I'm thinking of getting private health cover, it worries me at the moment the wait times in the NHS would be backlogged and months and months wait to be seen via referral.
The prices I have looked at seem really high if you have got cover who are you with and how much do you pay? The lowest I could find was £70 a month 😕

@janenorman, I know! I hardly ever go to the GP, if I was a regular i’d Remember to claim it on the insurance but it’s usually only a couple of hundred once or twice a year so probably not worth the hassle.

My DH has it with work, we are looking at how much it will cost to add me and DS to it. Baby DS needed tests over summer on his heart, they kept getting bumped due to Covid we ended up paying privately and got seen days later. We still haven't had the NHS appointment (Which apparently we still need to have as they run two extra tests but the main one gave us piece of mind)

@Mumblechum0 I can't decide whether this is madness or just freaking awesome.

I would tecommend looking at WPA. We found their premiums to be a good price and they dont rise dependent on how much you claim. I can't really give you a realistic premium comparison as we have 4 on our policy, im older than you with existing conditions and my husband us much older, we also have our son who is slmost 19 included and our daughter. It was by far the best value policy.
You can you choose your level of cover on all policies so its something to look at.

I found just this week how valuable its been. I needed to see a specialist urgently. None of our local hospitals had anyone who could see me as thry were all diverted on covid duty (understandably) but told my gp not to send me. Depsite concerns i might loose my hearing there was no way i could be seen. I used my insurance and saw two specialists that day and the next and recieved emergency treatment, fingers crossed it will work.

Yes and yes it’s worth it. When you find a lump in your breast and within a week you’ve seen a consultant, had a biopsy and got the results you’re bloody thankful. I’ve also had other stuff checked out. See doctor, straight into bloods, straight to ultrasound and back to doctor within an hour.
