What would happen in this positive test scenario?

I was thinking about this in the shower as I have my weekly test at work today and, if it were to be positive, I would have to get straight in my car and drive home .

However what if you test positive in the workplace, work further than walking distance from home, use public transport to get to work and don't have anyone to pick you up ....how would you get home?

My DD would be in this predicament. She's currently on a placement in hospital through her uni course. She has an hours journey on public transport to get there every day, she doesn't know anyone with a car in the city where she lives, we're over 2 hours away. If she tested positive what would happen?

She would have to get home by any means, probably how it spreads. What else could she do...
I imagine the hospital would give her one of the really good masks though.

A taxi with a Perspex screen to protect the driver and windows open.

I didn’t realise people were tested in the work place. I though the self administered lateral flow tests were are home. I’m a teacher, my DP is a teacher and my ex-h (DD’s dad) is a nurse. We all test twice a week, self administered at home. So if we had a positive result we would already be at home, and would then book a PCR test.

We get tested at work.A friend of mine who is a nurse also gets tested at work. I thought it was quite common.

Even if you are tested at home you can't just sit around and wait for your results. Not everyone who is being tested for work has access to the 'quick' tests. Friends who work in care homes have their weekly or twice weekly test but have to carry on as normal while they wait for the results. It's completly different to getting a test when you have symptoms.

In your dd's situation getting public transport home, and taking the usual precautions as she presumably already had done that day would be the only option.

Either way, it'd be hard to get home without using transport. If it were me, I'd walk for a couple of hours and use part of the transport system I thought would be quieter, making sure I opened windows around me, doing my best to distance. I actually have vizors at both my work places so would probably use one of those alongside my mask and, of course, use sanitizer.

We get tested at work, 2x a week with the rapid test and 2x a week the normal one. If we have a positive with the rapid we got to test again, if positive again we have to inform management.

I suppose she would have to get home by public transport, or taxi. Use the usual precautions.

My friend tested positive, result came through qt work and she walked 5 miles home as her dh was far away at work and she was told she had to leave straight away. She didn't want to put a taxi driver or friend at risk.
