DS positive - am I definitely going to get it?

DS was with ex sunday night and all of Monday. My ex texted me on Thursday to say he was unwell and positive for covid.

DS8 then said on Friday that everything tasted weird so off we went to the test centre - got his test back as positive this morning.

I can't bear to isolate DS. DD2 and him are two peas in a pod and have been playing and in each others faces as usual since he came home on Monday evening. DS struggles to sleep so falls asleep in my bed and dp transfers him when we go to bed.

We're all going to get it aren't we?

It's not given that you will get it. My ds 16 got it at new year. We had all been in a car together for 2 hours. He had hugged us and sat right by us before he tested positive yet none of the 4 of us got it.

My DS had it in November. He's only 3 so the was no way I could isolate him plus there are 5 of us in a small house.

I was literally wiping his bum and nose and all that, he slept in our bed most nights and shares a room with his older brother. None of the rest of us caught it. Apart from my baby daughter we were all tested at some point during isolation (for various symptoms, my DS didn't have the common ones) and we all tested negative, so it's not as if we caught it and were asymptomatic.

It's just luck though and there is no way of knowing if you will get it, but I really don't think it's fair to isolate a child within the household so we took the risk.

I should also say, we didn't take any extra precautions at all in the house. We all wash our hands obviously and I keep things clean anyway, but we didn't do anything different.

My DH had it in December. Our 3 DC and I did not get it, or did not get any symptoms at all if we did have it, so were not eligible for tests. We didn't (couldn't) isolate from him at home, and I didn't do any extra cleaning. Same happened with a colleague and his family, although they were trying to distance from each other at home.

DS In agony last night, slept in our bed with DP and I slept in DS's bed. He doesn't remember it this morning. He's absolutely fine during the day mostly. This virus is weird.

You might not, not everyone does, we’ve all caught it though.

My son had a temp and cough on Sunday and tested positive on Tuesday, by then his temperature and cough had gone. My partner then got a snotty nose, congested sinuses and tested positive.

I also have it mine is worse, this hasn’t shocked us as I’m CEV so I have high temp, dry cough, bad tummy, not taste/smell, no appetite, very fatigued, achey (my muscles are actually tender to the touch), breathless if I do anything but sit/lay down. I’m a type one diabetic and its having a big impact on that, I’m not able to sleep for more than two hours at a time as I keep going into hypo which is a pain in the arse.
