Study this graph closely... why aren't all staff in all educational settings, UK wide, being classed as a priority group?

How are our children going to be able to resume their education before this year is up when it was the reopening of schools that caused this gigantic wave?

You will see that numbers steadily increased when schools reopened in September to all students.

How are our children going to resume their education when we can't seem to get this disease under proper control?

Vaccinating the teachers to open schools is like vaccinating bar staff to reopen pubs.

Does nothing to stop community spread. I want schools back in. But in a way that doesn’t spread Covid too much and doesn’t overwhelm the NHS.

They are not on the first priority list because 95% of deaths were people over 60. The teachers over 60 or clinically vulnerable are on the list already. Teachers will probably be on the next list with keyworkers.||

Exactly what truelymadly said above.

Also, the priority groups (ie Phase 1) are not the over 70s and CEV, (1-4)but also the over 50s and CV.(5-9) This includes people with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, etc...

I really wish people would learn the difference. It's only the first four groups that are destined to be vaccinated by mid Feb. The rest (more than the same number again) will obviously take another several weeks. These people are also at much greater risk of severe illness, death and bunging up the NHS.

There was a Labour politician on the TV at lunchtime perpetuating the myth that teachers could be vaccinated in the Feb half term because "all the Phase 1 priority groups will have had their vaccine by then"

Here we go again.
Why is it that if teachers say we want to moved up the priority list, we're wrong, and if we say we don't, we're wrong?

If any group moves up the priority list, it means another group moves down. The JCVI has decided to prioritise those at greatest risk of death. Seems fair to me.
