Lots of posts asking advice regarding getting a test with cold like symptoms...this article confirms that these symptoms are more likely with the new variant.

To me that looks like the symptoms are actually the same. Only for some reason the UK has ignored the fact that most people get headaches, fatigue, sore throat etc with the old variant.

There isn't a lot is difference, looking at the charts, is there @OliveTree75, I agree with you.
Boris needs to add "update the symptoms list" to his to do list. ASAP!

So the symptoms of the new strain are the same as a cold, well that's hardly surprising really is it, considering that from the start they've been telling us from the start that most people will feel like they've got a heavy cold?
I can (sort of) understand the need for testing people that feel slightly unwell now, but once the most vulnerable have been vaccinated they need to stop the mass testing and only test those that are seriously unwell (as in going in to hospital) and also stop the isolation for those who have every slight possible symptom. Did we test for every slight symptom before covid? And where will it end if we test for anything that may be a sympton now? Anyone that is prone to coughs and colds would neverleave the house.

Tests are so much more available now many more common early covid symptoms need testing.

And people need to stop sending their kids to school if they "only have a cold".

I agree @Catyness
We sent loads of kids home with 'colds' - only for them to either then test positive themselves, or have staff/other students test positive a week or so after.
