Anyone worried that their kids are really falling behind?

I feel like mine aren’t really getting much done. Seems like everyone else is whizzing through the work and mine just can’t be bothered. Completely unmotivated. It’s so hard to get anything done and actually get them looking at there work and getting it done.

My dd is now refusing to do a single piece of work. I am at a loss over what to do

How old is your daughter? Mine are 12 and 9. My 13 year old is ok and fairly motivated but the other two are not at all. Just don’t want to did the live lessons and the tasks they are set. It’s such a battle.

One of mine isn't learning anything new but was doing well at school so not a problem. Other one was already 2-3 years behind in English and school isn't really setting anything to help so yes he will be even further behind when he goes back. But there is't anything I can do. They at least are not too unhappy at the moment which is really the main thing.

She's ten...my other dc is at secondary and all lessons are live online so he just gets on with it.

We've had a better day today.

DS2 (7) attempted the maths.
DS1 (10) did the history (he likes his new topic)
He didn't get as far as doing his sheet as he started stewing while the teacher was explaining so before he brewed to full meltdown, I sent him off to his room. He did however read about coding and watch some Perfect Planet.

Mar-July was a near write-off too.

I was last time. This time round we are paying for a (properly qualified) tutor for English and maths, and then they do Outschool for other topics (science, geography, art etc).

Recorded lessons are pretty uninspiring even for my most motivated child, but they love learning live with their tutor and Outschool. I am not prepared to sacrifice their education and I don't want to sacrifice my career so forking out seemed like the best option (I know I am lucky I can afford it).

I am also making sure they have new books to read so that they read plenty.

It is utterly shit though, and I felt awful last lockdown till I found the tutor and Outschool

(the teenager is getting all live lessons and thriving, she finds it easier without the distractions of the unruly children at school - teacher can mute them in teams!)
