Hi,

I'm 10+4 weeks pregnant, last Thursday we had been exposed to covid via MIL (she's in our childcare bubble)

DH had a slight achey throat, tested negative this morning (tested yesterday)

I used a lateral flow test and got negative yesterday.

Today I've woken up as though someone is sitting on my chest. Finding it hard to catch my breath at times.

I tried to strip our bedding and had to sit down because I felt too breathless and my arms felt so heavy.

Would you test again? We're all isolating until Saturday but I've never felt like this before.

MIL is a-symptomatic, she said it's probably just pregnancy but I've been pregnant before and only struggled with breathlessness at the end (partly cos my babe was a big lad)

So I'm quite anxious today, I'm WFH student nurse so not much activity but it's even noticeable when I'm sitting at my desk

Probably, yeah. I had an asthma attack in July and the GP told me to test with my breathing difficulties even though I didn't have those three main symptoms.

I’d test.

Also call 111 to ask advice. I ended up in hospital at 22 weeks pregnant with suspected covid. Test was negative but I felt like you with inability to catch breath.

What’s your heart rate like? Mine was 115 at rest and a minute sit to stand had it up at 155.

There was concern about a PE as you’re higher risk in pregnancy.

I hope you feel better soon x

I would book a test, lateral flows are known for being unreliable. You also could have not had it at the time. Also your MIL may be in denial that she could have given you it and made you ill rather than asymptomatic, so she isn't the most neutral person in this.

I'll book a test for ASAP. I feel so weak and generally crappy. I have breathlessness occasionally if I lie on my back for a long time but I don't have it throughout the day when I'm inactive. Feel like someone's sitting on my chest

You shouldn't lie on your back if you have Covid. On your front is best or side.

Get a test by all means but I'd also contact your gp or midwife. Do you have a pulse oximeter so you can keep an eye on your blood o2?

COVID can make you feel breathless even when you are getting enough oxygen but you do need to keep an eye on your o2 sat, breathing rate and heart rate. And if resting makes things better then just rest - housework can most definitely wait.
