I'm wanting to get some vitamins with vitamin d in. On the NHS website it says recommended You should take 10 micrograms (400 IU) but all the ones I can find on amazon are 4000iu?!
Isn't that 10 times more 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Can anyone recommend any please? Thanks!

I think it is. I only take 400, on advice from a dietitian. I know some will disagree.

Thank you. Where do you get the ones with 400 please?

I take 2000 iu per day along with K2.

I've been researching and between 2000 & 4000 is safe for an adult. Ds takes 1000 as he is only 16.

I get them from Holland & Barratt.

4000IU/100ug is the maximum recommended to take
400IU/10ug is the minimum amount recommended

Anything between the 2 is ok to take

400iu a day is fine as a top up if your levels are high. As a way of combating deficiency its totally inadequate - as is the NHS advice in this matter.

I did a lot of reading round and now take 2000 iu a day oct- march and have normal levels for the first time in years.

Boots sell them, probably any pharmacy will have them:

4000UI is the maximum recommended daily dose. If you are deficient, you will need a high dose. You can get a home kit to test your vitamin D levels.

The QMUL clinical trial investigating whether vitamin D offers protection against COVID-19 is using 800UI and 3200UI daily supplements.

I'm using a spray that give 3,000 units a day.
I think 400 units is ok just for basic levels.
But if you have a deficiency you will need much higher doses.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 25/01/2021 13:43

I take 4000 every other day.

picklemewalnuts · 25/01/2021 13:58

Tesco sell two strengths, the standard daily top up, and the bigger dose.

I'm on the bigger dose, and still deficient according to my bloods, so the GP recommended I take 10 per week instead of 7 per week.

Imiss2019 · 25/01/2021 14:00

Most pharmacies and boots have the 400 strength ones (It was all I could find when I wanted high strength ones)

waynesbluestreak · 25/01/2021 15:41

I take 2000 iu with K2 as on 1000 iu my levels were only just at the lower range of normal and I have a history of being really unwell if my levels drop below the normal range.

Overthinker19 · 27/01/2021 16:01

Boots sell 10mcg and 25mcg. Amazon sell vit D sprays in varying strengths
