..every year. Now reporting in Daily Mail and Guardian.

Flu vaccine is updated each year but we only vaccinate the most vulnerable. Realistically how are we going to keep vaccinating the whole population every year?

@Em777

Isn’t there a large facility being built right now (in Oxford, I think?) that is designed to be able to manufacture 70-80 million doses of vaccine a year?
Yes there is - huge investment
LetItGoGo · 26/01/2021 18:40

It's all in hand op.

JS87 · 26/01/2021 18:41

Given that there are concerns that the numbers in hospital could still be large if under 50s not vaccinated and certainly if under 65s weren’t vaccinated I imagine they would expand the vulnerable groups for an annual covid booster. Otherwise if the mutated strains were completely resistant to current vaccines we might find ourselves in a similar situation again. I suspect boosters may be offered to either all over 50s and vulnerable or everyone for a few years and then reduced to more vulnerable groups after that

Lovely scaremongering title. Hmm

The title of this thread is going to cause massive anxiety for people.

Don't be a wanker, and ask MNHQ to alter it.

Do you actually enjoy upsetting people? Fucking evil

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2021 18:45

It just needs 'each year' adding at the end. But that wouldn't be as alarming would it? Hmm

Justthebeerlighttoguide · 26/01/2021 18:51

Offer to vulnerable and make everyone else pay like the flu?

We pay 8 pounds to 12 every year for the flu jab surely a price worth paying?

That's not news.

It's was said ages ago it'll be become like flu vaccine each year and likely become part of programme. They would look into effects of having both jabs at same time.

StrangerHereMyself · 26/01/2021 19:15

As you’ve said, we do 15 million flu jabs a year, over a period of about 12 weeks, as a matter of routine without anyone thinking twice about it or GP clinics having to run 24 hours a day.

If having to do four times that many or even eight times if we end up with needing double jabs forever (unlikely IMO) is the price it takes to restart the economy, then yes of course we’ll do it.

raffegiraffe · 26/01/2021 20:48

Nasal vaccines would do it. Quick and cheap, can self administer if needed. One vial can do 20 people. First covid ones just gone in to trials
