I just heard an a 'jobs available' section on a local radio station. A recruitment agency is looking for cleaners to work in a healthcare setting 5 days a week. At the end of the job advertisement it said 'if you come work for us, we will give you a covid vaccine' and the DJ added 'oh well that's a great bonus. You get a covid vaccine before everyone else!'.

I know cleaners are incredibly important, more than ever now, but using a the prospect of getting a vaccine as an incentive to apply for a job, and including it in the radio advertisement, felt wrong to me. What do you think? Not a big deal?

Also often done by female immirgrants. In my experience they are an exceptionally hardworking and dedicated group.

My mate who cleans in a hospice/home has the vaccine and I couldn't be happier. She didn't really want it so it wasn't a 'perk' to her.

I don't think its at all wrong. So many people would rather sit at home moaning about not being able to find a new cushy admin job than do unglamourus essential work. Spell out a reason to do something useful.

We have so many unfilled vaccancies in the healthcare/ support setting where I work, including cleaners and "helpers" who don't need qualifications - makes me less sympathetic to a couple of aquaintances bemoaning being unable to find new positions in very specific niche areas of up market retail, or general office admin because they won't even consider getting their hands dirty.

Sounds fair to me

It's important to give the reassurance that workers will get the jab. Some of you seem to be massively over-thinking this.
