It says for me, in the next few days which is true. Work in a care home and I have my 1st vaccine on Friday morning.

One of the thing vaccine calculators don’t take into account is the regional variation.

My Mum (85) had her first dose on Saturday, and quite a few of her friends are still waiting.

I live in a different area, most of the over 80’s have been done and I know 6 in the 75+ bracket who were done today.

I’m in group 6 (clinically vulnerable), but my personal interest in when I will be jabbed has diminished considerably since I caught Covid and lived to tell the tale. Don’t get me wrong - I will still have it, because there is a chance that it will give me greater/longer-lived immunity than infection. But it doesn’t seem quite as urgent to me now.

Does anyone know if the powers that be are just counting everyone born in the year 1951 as 70 regardless of actual date and month of birth in that year? Asking as I am not actually 70 until 25th of December this year which theoretically puts me in group 5 to be invited for the vaccine and not group 4 as I am still 69 but in my 70th year!!

PuzzledObserver · 25/01/2021 18:52

@AnnieP1 I don’t know the answer, but in practice it will only be a week or two’s difference.

Hey op,I'm ECV and got called Saturday to ask if if I could get in right away as had spare from their session, and the gp had done her list on medical need and how quickly people could get in:was there and back in ten minutes😊 so what I'm trying to say is, regardless of the calculators, is,they're on to us, I would not be suprised if they beat the 15th February goal, and if you happen to be able to get to gp at moments notice,an email/message to reception ,or mentioning it in a planned appointment for something else could be useful. Enjoy the sausage rolls till then👍

My area was late to start but a friend who is CEV but under 50 was done today so they are rattling through them. I had mine done today (social care) at a hospital hub. It was super efficient and quick, literally in amd out in 20 mins including the 15 min wait after.

Tomorrow

I know it is only a defence not a shield, but I have not survived two different primary cancers in five years, to be taken out by an invisible virus.

It’s not even a regional issue, they will be variations in how people are called and invited for a number of regions. Not all vaccination sites serve the same size population or demographics.

A site serving a small population might decide to invite all of cohort 3 and 4 together. They will give the older group preference to the slots but if the offer is taken up go out to younger and CEv. They then circle back around at least twice to make sure everyone is captured and offered opportunities to take a slot.

If you have a big pool of over 75’s that might not be the best way to operate.

There has to be a bit of pragmatism and flexibility. We will continue to see cohorts being done in parallel to allow for this.
