Son is just turned 2. Had a temperature of 38.5 at lunch time and managed to book a test for 4.30pm this afternoon

I woke him up as he had fallen asleep and been so sleepy today. He was 39.5
He went to bed at 6.30 as was pointing at his cot and iv been in to check him and he is dripping with sweat.
I'm beside myself. I didn't give him calpol before bed as the test was awful and me coming towards him with the syringe made him so upset as he thought I was going to do his nose again.Sad
I'm so worried

Hope both of the 2 year olds pick up soon. Sounds like there may be another night in it :(
Fingers crossed results come quickly.

@xxxJess123xxx

My sons temp has gone back to normal today strangly, but he is still not himself. Very lethargic and not wanting to get off the sofa which unlike him. He is asleep atm, no results yet. Test at a walk through site at 4.30pm x
Hope the test went OK and you get the results quickly. Don't be scared about calling 111 if he's not improving or calling the GP's. Don't forget to have a good check against other things such as rashes as well. When the whole world is caught up in covid its easy to forget that other things exist!

We are in full flow temp fluctuations (which my son is known for) so was fine til nap time then spiking again at 40. So we are in our temp management now to keep it under control, he's had Ibruprofen at 3pm as this lasts 7 hours. He will get calpol at 6.30pm which lasts 4 hours and then we will give him another dose of Ibruprofen at 10.30pm we wake him slightly for this to last him through til morning and then calpol again around 4/5am again when a bit sleepy.
Don't know if it helps you but this works for us and means he doesn't get any really high spikes especially overnight.

Hope your little one feels better soon too Scottish.
My son woke up feeling much better after his (extra long!) nap. Temp fine and he has eaten his dinner so fingers crossed he will sleep OK tonight and feel better.
He has drunk a ton today but I presume it was from being so hot yesterday. Wet nappies fine and no rash.
Still no results! We are at 28 hours now

That's great news that he's eating and drinking lots its a good sign! Fingers crossed that you get the results soon we were told tomorrow so hopefully they will be early and negative otherwise I have to call nursery Confused

My son seems OK other than not eating but drinking milk so hopefully he will have a OK night.
He's very prone to temps he spent a week with a temp of 38-40 before, Dr's couldn't believe how chirpy he was when we were admitted to hospital when they realised he had a temp of 39. It would floor most kids but only seems to bother him if 39.8 or above!
