Glucose levels - additional risk?

Just seen the article below, which reminded me an old saying:

"feed the cold, starve the fever"

The article seems to suggest that it's the extra blood glucose that can trigger cytokine storm which could potentially explain why people with diabetes are more affected.

Does anyone else have a view on this?

Without wishing to upset anyone, you're correct @YogaLite
My Mum was T1 diabetic.. she was admitted to hospital with DKA, contracted viral pneumonia 23 years ago.. she passed away after 2 days on a ventilator
Cytokine storm was mentioned then, as it is with Covid 19 now She was 71

Yes, I'm 56 now and I keep an eye on my blood sugar levels and eat as well as I can
