When to book covid test before flying?

I'm flying into Europe for work on Monday 1st Feb.
I'm booking a covid test with Boots. It has to be done 72 hours before I travel to allow them time to give me the result.

I'm just wondering when I should book it for? I assume they don't work on Sunday so should I book it for the Thursday before? Or will this make it too far away from my travel date?

The Friday of have thought or the test result will be invalid.

Remember to book the correct time eg if flying at 4pm your test has to be after 4pm on the Friday.

Do they notify you by text/email? And do they work on Sundays or would that be a down day?

I work for a Boots that does swabs. I'd book it on the Friday before within the 72 hour window. Our tests are couriered to a lab 75 mins ago. After that your in the hands of the lab. Not sure how they notify you but our store is open on Sundays.

I know I sound judgemental but what cannot be done remotely that involves travel for work at this point?

Sorry if I sound bitter. Have been at working looking after covid patients today and had a grim day.

In Europe?

redsquirrelfan · 23/01/2021 16:40

Oh I suppose there are refugee camps. But don't the countries that host those refugees have enough workers who can help instead of having to import people from Plague Island?

RhusTox · 23/01/2021 16:48

@Medstudent12 thank you so much for what you do. I have sent you a pm.

What are the rules for the country you are visiting? How far before you take off/ land will they accept the test from? Work backwards from the regulations at your destination.

Ok fair enough. Does sounds like it can’t be done via zoom. Xx

I don’t think the OP came on to be judged by the covid police about why they are traveling for work..... and just because you have been working with covid patients all day does not give you the right to judge someone who was just asking a question. I understand your work must be hard but there really is no need to judge anyone who dares to do anything other than sit in the house and then offer your approval for them to go ahead with their plans.

Have you got a direct flight or do you need to change to a connecting flight?
There was someone stuck in an airport somewhere as her test was valid for the first flight but not for the second one: www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55711849

RhusTox · 23/01/2021 22:35

@Katie517 it's ok, I understand the concern expressed and respect by the other poster who is a medic. Entirely reasonable concern.

RhusTox · 23/01/2021 22:36

It's a direct flight Liz, and I'm required to take a test 72 hours before it.
