How long on home schooling?

Morning!

Just wondering how long you are spending on home schooling your kids?
I have a 5 year old who’s in reception and I think we are doing two hours a day max. The mum guilt is strong because we are literally at loggerheads daily. The school don’t have any online lessons so I think it would be different if they did, it’s all done through teams and just sent out daily.

Between 9.215-12 I homeschool my 5 year old. We don't do the afternoons it's to much for him and in reception most of it is play anyway!

Mine is 6 and I do about 2 or 2.5 hours mom to Thurs in the morning
Start at 8.30 and finish up around 11am
Take Friday off just a small bit of reading and he has a lesson online but that's a fun one

I'd say between 2 and 3 hours in total with lots of breaks.

Mine are 9&7. They get 3or4 subjects a day. Sometimes they are finished by lunch (we start at 9, and have a break at 11ish, lunch is 12.30 when dh gets home). Yesterday elder DD was still working at 4.30.

It's supposed to be 3 hours in KS1, rising to 4 by end of KS2. But that includes reading, spellings, timetables, pe, assemblies...

Between 0 and 1.5 hours a day with DS who is 10 and has SEN

Also we're getting small live lessons throughout the week but for my primary aged child I really, really don't think they've very beneficial. He's learning much more with me sat next to him and struggling much less with maths for example. We have a box full of stickers etc for him to choose one after each bit of work for some incentive.

My y2 is doing 3 × 40-50 mins a day with the online work school sets and then reading.

There's no point being a hero about it. We did quite a lot in the first lockdown and he spent the autumn term finishing work so quickly he just got bored.

A solid hour 1 to 1 with a 4, 5 and 6 year old is pretty good and will keep them on track. 1 to 1 is much more intense than they would get in school. If you are managing 2 to 3 hours you are properly cracking on. Realistically more than 3hrs you are into doing a bit too much.

Kids that age learn through play and need play.
