Sky Breaking News Experts warn that lockdown isn't working
Radii 4 had something similar this morning.
I seriously don't know what to think or who to believe any more. Confused
If lockdown isn't working, what else can they try?

It is working, but basically until people have had both their doses of vaccines and then the 2/3 weeks after that we will start to look to come out of lockdown, that’s why they keep on about lockdown lasting to May.

likeamillpond · 21/01/2021 16:10

Why does the heading say
Lockdown Not Working?
It should have a Yet on the end.

There is some uncertainty about the case rates today because Imperial College's React-1 study shows they are going up from early January. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55736239

Well it is true that news agencies leave off the "yet" to make a better story. It is how they make their money after all.

Just listen to the government announcements - especially when it's the medical people talking - and ignore the media.

The lock-down thing is especially misleading as we never said it would cure the virus. It's just to slow it down while the other things get done like the vaccine. AND if people are told it will be over soon they will stop being careful now and it really won't work.

DreamingofGinoclock · 21/01/2021 16:20

The first paragraph is:

"Infections in 6-15 January were up by 50% on early December, with one in 63 people infected, Imperial College London's initial findings suggest."

Its really irresponsible reporting the cases have increased since early December I.e way before lockdown. Not since lockdown. They are comparing data from not long after the November lockdown to cases directly after Christmas I.e immediately after Christmas and new year mixing ...I.e anyone could predict cases early Jan were going to be higher than early dec ... cases in real time are in fact falling.

We're all being manipulated.
I wonder how long people will put up with it?
People would be more likely to comply if they knew they weren't being played.

Just be straight with us.

It's a very complex situation, with no easy answers. Every silver bullet comes with an exit wound of some sort.
