What are your reasons for having a vaccine?

Is it to reduce the chances of serious illness because you are in one of the vulnerable categories?

Is it to prevent you from passing the virus on to others in the vulnerable categories?

Is it to stop you from catching the virus?

Is it so you can get your freedom back?

I want normal back, I don't think the vaccine is the only way to do that, but the government aren't prepared to reduce rates by any other means it seems.

I want to hug my mum and do out to dinner and get schools open and travel.

MrsSmith2021 · 19/01/2021 20:20

All of the above.

HelloMissus · 19/01/2021 20:21

Everything really. I’ll take whatever it gives.
If it stops me getting it brilliant.
If it reduces symptoms brilliant.
If it reduces transmission brilliant.
If it allows normality to resume brilliant.

If it turns out to do none of these things then at least I’ll have tried to be part of the push back.

MajesticWhine · 19/01/2021 20:24

Most of what you said OP, except the first (I am not vulnerable).
Mostly because I will (hopefully) be able to see patients again face to face soon and so being vaccinated is the responsible thing to do (I get the flu every year for the same reason). And also for the safety of elderly DM and in-laws.

Glitterbubbles · 19/01/2021 20:24

Because I work on a COVID ward, no brainer for me
Also because the more of us get vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to normal life

MajesticWhine · 19/01/2021 20:25

Flu jab not flu 🙄

Cissyandflora · 19/01/2021 20:26

To not be ill.

TheHobbitMum · 19/01/2021 20:29

We'll all be having the dose once we can, I am CEV and we all want to move on from being imprisoned at home (shielding, it's very draining).
I am very concerned about the extended time between doses and how they arw requesting we still continue to shield even after both doses as they don't know we'll it'll work for immuno-compromised.

We all want to return to something resembling normality and vaccines will get us there

Plussizejumpsuit · 19/01/2021 20:34

Well I'm in number 6 group. So a while off getting it. But all of the reasons you mentioned in your op. Plus it might stop people dying if I passed it on to them. Also it might reduce pressure on the NHS. Why do you ask op?

cheninblanc · 19/01/2021 20:48

So I don't catch covid at work, nhs, so I potentially reduce risk to my family and so I contribute to the national effort of reducing transmission and getting us someway back to normal
