Are you happy to have the vaccine , I know that I’ll be having it when it’s my turn

OP posts:
Bilgepumper · 19/01/2021 18:17

100%

FuzzyPuffling · 19/01/2021 18:20

Yes.Bring it on.
As a shielding household we've scarcely been anywhere (and I mean anywhere, like a supermarket) since early March and I want to choose my own broccoli.

Neenan · 19/01/2021 18:20

But you can’t say you’re not having the vaccine because you don’t understand the differences in levels of immunity from being infected vs having the vaccine.

Just Google it, there’s loads of articles that come up.

I currently in my isolation period of Covid, I’m having it. I’m hoping any antibodies I have will see me through to the over 50s vaccination group.

For this to benefit everyone, we need as many people as possible to have it. If we all took the “I don’t understand stance” it would never go away.

Sadly I suspect there will be lots of people with this attitude.

DayKay · 19/01/2021 18:23

@thedancingbear think what you like but my dcs and I have had all the usual vaccines as per nhs guidance.
As an anti vaxxer, am I not meant to be against vaccines in general or is just wanting more confidence in a new one enough these days for that accusation to be thrown around Hmm

LetItGoGo · 19/01/2021 18:24

I may need a vaccine in subsequent years.

But how would that stop me having it now?

VettiyaIruken · 19/01/2021 18:25

I'm aware there are side effects and risks but yes, I'll be having it as soon as it's my turn (I'm cev) . You've got to weigh it up, haven't you? If I get covid I'm fucked. If I get the vaccine I'll probably be fine but as with any vaccine there's a small risk. 🤷‍♀️

DayKay · 19/01/2021 18:25

Oh and from the articles I’ve read and the people in the medical
Profession I’ve spoken to, they don’t know either because there’s not enough research.

sadandstressedout · 19/01/2021 18:27

Nothings ever 100% without risk but put it this way I trust the vaccine more then I trust covid!!

Roselilly36 · 19/01/2021 18:29

Yes of course I do, many GP’s & HCP have taken the vaccine.

missfliss · 19/01/2021 18:30

Yes

PilatesPeach · 19/01/2021 18:34

The overwhelming majority of people do not get side. I had the vaccine Sunday. I felt so tired yesterday but that was because I was so excited I did not sleep that night and not because the vaccine caused fatigue! I have had no side effects.

SaltyTootsieToes · 19/01/2021 18:34

Yes I do

Can’t wait to get mine

PilatesPeach · 19/01/2021 18:34

effects

frumpety · 19/01/2021 18:35

Had my first dose, can't wait for my second and would happily have one every year along with my Flu vaccination if that is what is required.

Wannabangbang · 19/01/2021 18:35

Yes and i think working age people need to be vaccinated soon. I'm hoping these vaccines will be rolled out quicker than expected.

Wolfiefan · 19/01/2021 18:38

Can’t bloody wait. I’m with @FuzzyPuffling I want to pick my own fruit and vegetables. I can’t believe I miss shopping in a supermarket.

boxingdayclearout · 19/01/2021 18:38

Yes. I've had the vaccine. First dose of Pfizer at the beginning of December ( no side effects), and due second dose in March. It truly is the ONLY way out of this health crisis.
Literally there are no other options.

I am a health care professional. I have trained to become a vaccinator and I am due to start soon. I have read as much of the info provided from the vaccine companies, the NHS training resources, webinars and government info. I have studied section 14a of The Green Book ( the bible for inoculations in UK). I've followed the research closely, and am very interested in the reports coming out of Israel, where the vaccine has been rolled out very quickly, and they are starting to witness the results. The actual words of the prime minister were "This is the end game".

For those with a healthy, well though out wariness, I really hope that with time, and with seeing positive results coming out across the world, that you will eventually make the right decision.

To the anti-vaxxers and trolls, I ignore you.

Also, please note that the contents of the vaccine dissipate from the body within several days, that they've all been extremely well tested, and are safe. And effective. And much much much better taking a jab than having to suffer Covid.

Do the right thing y'all!

Ffsnosexallowed · 19/01/2021 18:38

I've had my first Pfizer dose, really frustrated by people being offered it and refusing it. Idiots.

OzziePopPop · 19/01/2021 18:42

Yup, had the Oxford (AstraZeneca) one today. I’m shielding so v. Pleased I’ve had the first one and some protection is on it’s way!

bengalcat · 19/01/2021 18:43

Yes I trust the scientists and the MHRA . Had mine at work . Am with @Wannabangbang on hoping the vaccine rollout accelerates to include younger people sooner .
My DD had covid at uni and looks forward to her turn in due course .
Would anticipate an annual vaccine for covid along with flu for the foreseeable future at present .

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2021 18:44

@DayKay My nurse colleague had covid in April, no antibodies by November. She had a positive test result and felt very unwell.

CrazyToast · 19/01/2021 18:44

I can't wait. I will feel happier about getting the vaccine than I've felt about anything in years. It will be a step towards hope.

Saucery · 19/01/2021 18:46

polkadotpixie · 19/01/2021 18:49

Absolutely. Had my first dose today, Pfizer but would also have had Oxford AstraZeneca if that had been offered instead

AubergineIsMyFavourite · 19/01/2021 18:54

Yes. Had my first one today.

If we need them yearly or every two years then it will be like the flu, I expect, and be a ‘best guess’. Results of this round of vaccinations will be closely monitored to see how effective it has been and how we manage it in the future.

I was very relieved to have it today and very grateful as I know many people need it and want it. Am very fortunate.
