Holidays in April??

rattymcratrat · 19/01/2021 13:59

Would you book a holiday, within your own country for April??

It would mean travelling across several counties but only around 4/5 hours travel time.

What do you think??
Am I being silly to think restrictions will have eased by then?

We nearly booked a spring UK holiday, just before the infection rate started shooting up. I'm glad we held off.

However, a lot of holiday companies have covid cover now don't they? So as long as you can get a refund, then maybe just go for it.

We booked a break for April. I am hopeful we will be able to go. But we made sure it had a flexible cancellation just in case.

rattymcratrat · 19/01/2021 15:01

It would be Airbnb and looks like there is free cancellation up to the week before....I might just go for it but if restrictions are high we may not be able to go walking/beaches....

I think restrictions will allow travel and more outdoor activity, but I can’t see restaurants, venues and indoor activities being anywhere close to normal. So unless you’re just wanting to hang out in a different house and do loads of walking and cycling, I wouldn’t bother tbh.

RosieLemonade · 19/01/2021 15:46

Mine for last weekend of March and early April was cancelled yesterday.

BIWI · 19/01/2021 15:47

Lots of issues reported in the papers this weekend about AirBnB hosts refusing to refund bookings though.

I really wouldn't risk booking through them.

Lazypuppy · 19/01/2021 15:48

They are pushing for weddings to be up to 50 people for after easter weekend so some positive signs.

I would book it as long as you can get refund if needed etc

@RosieLemonade

Mine for last weekend of March and early April was cancelled yesterday.
For which part of U.k. we are hoping to rent a house in Scarborough for a week in April but not confident
Lemons1571 · 19/01/2021 17:54

I’ve booked Airbnb but on their flexible refund policy. So get a refund up to 24 hours before leaving no questions asked.

BIWI · 19/01/2021 18:02

Just make sure, @Lemons1571, that the AirBnB hosts will also adhere to that, as I think that was the issue!

Hoppyfrog · 19/01/2021 18:05

I've just booked a week away by the beach in Norfolk, it would be so nice to have a change of scene and different walks, even if that's all it's going to be I will be ok with it! Will get different food, takeaways, have a break from usual house stuff - and will move it to a later date if need be.

Applejack87 · 19/01/2021 18:07

There is an issue we was going to book Airbnb and were informed that if need be we would have to cancell two weeks before or risk losing our money , we we’re gonna smacked how do we know what the following two weeks hold
My advice call them & clarify their policy during covid

Dogsandbabies · 19/01/2021 19:48

Op, we booked with Airbnb. Each host has their own cancellation policy clearly stated on their page. They have always had that and always stuck to it. Just book somewhere with flexibility. The host cannot change their mind. Airbnb will refund you fully if you cancel before the deadline. There is even a handy filter that allows you to just view properties with flexibility cancellation policies.

Numerous people complaining about their bookings not being refunded but it was clearly stated in the cancellation policy.
