If your child had covid - did they lose sense of smell, and is it back?

I had covid in October as did DH and DC. Complete smell loss for DH and I and we aren't sure about DC as she's only 2. I did run after her with fresh cut garlic to test it and she didn't appreciate that but that could have been irritation rather than the smell!

My smell is back - took 2 weeks I think - DH's is mild. I realised I can't smell DC's poop/little farts anymore and tested this by smelling DH's breath this morning - it was fine?!? So I've def lost something there.

My issue is sending DC back to school one day as I'd really not want her to have her sense of smell impacted for life. Wondered if anyone has accounts of what's happened for their children, if they can communicate it properly!

My ds 4 caught it as well all did at the same time. He wasn't bothered by it nor did we try and ask him if he can taste it as it didn't seem like a question he would be able to answer with a yes or no or even comprehend

My 3 year old has it now and always comments on smells so far she appears to still be able to smell everything

One of mine had it. Slight headache and cough. No loss of smell or taste

Dd is 13 and had it in oct. Her taste and smell is still a bit hit and miss.
