Did you have covid and you were ok? Feeling worried

I’ve become so worried about covid. I won’t be getting the vaccine anytime soon.

It’s not worried me in the past, I’ve just followed the rules and thought it’s a very bad cold and if I get it then I do. But reading about some people who were totally fine and now can’t even walk upstairs without feeling shit...I’ve suddenly become scared. I started a relationship last summer and we are in a bubble, he’s a doctor and had the vaccine but I’ve even started questioning seeing him now which is sad as I really like him.

Just feeling stressed

We all got in this household in December. I felt poorly but didn't need to go to my bed in the day. Felt better after a week, still have a bit of a cough. My two dd's were fine. DD19 had a blocked nose and sore throat. DD14 had a blocked nose and ears.

DH was the worst off needed oxygen for a few days in hospital. He is fine now, back to work and seems to be recovering well.

Yes I’ve had it. Am immune compromised and not young, felt exhausted for few days but homeopathic treatment from professional homeopath got rid of it super quick with no after effects. There are ppl on mumsnet who know nowt about homeopathy but who have taken it upon themselves to scream at anyone who uses it. So they will pile on the abuse at this post but I’m just offering my own experience and ppl are free to take it or leave it as they wish. A tip: don’t try to self prescribe using over the counter remedies. Consult a professional.

I tested positive on 1st Jan. Today is my 1st day feeling human again.

I do still have stuffed sinuses and a dull pain in my eyes but apart from that, I feel fine. It was the strangest illness- every day was different. It began quite benignly but by day 5, I felt awful.

My daughter felt like she had a heavy cold and was fine after 4 days.

I had it over Christmas and 40 colleagues have or did get it . I just felt really knackered and lost taste and smell, diarrhoea and a bit chesty. Felt better by new year . Am back at work as are a lot of my colleagues but a few are still breathless and exhausted...we are running on very low numbers and workload high so it is a vicious circle. We shall definitely be getting our vaccine after the 28 day post positive test result.

I currently have it (tested positive on the 12th), I have felt pretty unwell over the last few days with the worst feeling of a heavy weight in my lungs and shortness of breath.

I am not better but I tentatively feel that the feeling in my chest/lungs is slightly lighter today so I am trying to be positive and hopeful that this will be me now getting better.

Thing is you'll get the majority saying 'I was fine and I know no one who died or was hospitalised' or 'I know someone shielding that caught it' or 'my 90 year old gran caught it, and they were fine'. For most people that will be the case but it does demonstrate how random it is. I'm on week 7 and turned the corner re symptoms last sunday, but still not 100%. I'm getting on ( early 50s) but prev very physically fit. Otoh my friend who isn't as fit and is a former smoker recovered within 2 weeks. You just don't know.....but the chance is you'll be ok unkess you have several undisclosed risk factors.

Am 60, got it very mildly, cough for a few days, high temp for a few hours, felt tired and lost sense of smell and taste. Recovered completely after 5 days. Am average build, fairly active but hardly ever get ill at all. Have friends of similar age who also were fine. Worrying won't help!

Ricepops · 19/01/2021 22:47

Some PP are saying that they didn't feel unwell until several days in - do you mean you suddenly worsened at that point, or were you genuinely fine until then?

I ask because I'm on day 4 and feeling ok and tentatively optimistic that there is nothing else to come. Had fever and spent most of the day in bed on day 1, low grade fever day 2, and day 3 and 4 have been ok except for being a bit tired.

Ruby1991 · 24/01/2021 17:10

Im on day 7 since finding out and feel fine, haven't really had any symptoms other than slight sore throat and slight headache. Tbh i only went ahead and tested as i knew i was a contact..otherwise I'd be none the wiser

Quitescaredx · 24/01/2021 17:36

Early 30s I was really ill in bed for about 4 weeks . 6 weeks on I’m 80 percent better . Not vulnerable prior but it hit me hard .

I had what I now think was Covid in December 2019. Normally I get ill every year with a cold and it hits me badly. I am usually ill for at least 3 weeks. No idea why but that is a standard time for me so I try and avoid those people who soldier on whilst they are spreading their germs everywhere.

When I got ill in the December I felt ill for a few days then suddenly started to feel better. I thought I had cracked it this time and I was recovering and my body was fighting back at last. Then it hit me and I couldnt get out of bed for several days or I would come down stairs for a few hours and sit on the sofa.
For me it was the coughing. I couldn’t sleep because of the coughing which meant I felt worse. I could hardly breathe let alone stand up without assistance
I went to an out of hours gp who prescribed me antibiotics after listening to my lungs and my laboured breathing.
Fortunately they did seem to work almost immediately.
But it took me months to fully recover. Still haven’t got back to my pre illness level of fitness but at least I can now go to 2 shops to get my shopping instead of going to one place then having to go back home to recouperate and go out the next day after I have rested up for the day.
