Vaccination schedule after first 9 categories

Verite1 · 17/01/2021 10:50

Has anyone seen any information about vaccination schedule after the first 9 categories have been vaccinated. Will it continue with age priority (which I hope being mid 40s!) or will it be a free for all for anyone between 18-49? I haven’t seen anything yet. Maybe they haven’t decided?

It’s not yet been decided. Probably the 40!s plus those in the front line, teachers etc

Myalternate · 17/01/2021 10:59

Judging by a recently deleted thread on here, it's already a free for all and who-you-know. I don't even know what category I'm supposedly in but I'll just wait patiently until I'm called.

Verite1 · 17/01/2021 11:17

Ah yes - I do remember talk of those who can’t work from home being vaccinated earlier. Perhaps a general category of critical workers? Although I expect even more people will claim to be critical workers then!

Selfishly, I hope its (overweight) late 40 somethings.

Akire · 17/01/2021 11:34

They are hoping for police teachers supermarket workers, but also young adults as they more like spread to like uni students in halls. I think by age As seems easier way for NHS to contact you. Unless we have a national day of Jab a teacher and go through category’s like that.

DdraigGoch · 17/01/2021 12:06

Hopefully group 10 will be key workers who cannot work from home. Supermarkets, police officers, public transport staff etc.

Mousehole10 · 17/01/2021 12:08

Probably key workers who can’t work from home, then going down by age. But by then they should be doing so many a week and we’ll have more supply’s and more vaccines it’ll be quite quick.

hellsbells99 · 17/01/2021 12:16

My DD’s company have told them they hope to get the workers vaccinations in the 2nd phase - this is manufacturing at a plant with 2000+ employees on site. So I would think people who have to go out to work, like manufacturing, teachers, transport workers, police etc.

Babyroobs · 17/01/2021 12:18

I wish working aged CEV could have been made a higher priority. DH really needs to get back to his job and is the main breadwinner with 4 children to support. I worry his job is going to be at risk if he has to work from home much longer.

vminkookie · 17/01/2021 12:28

@Babyroobs
I'm shocked worming age CEV are not up there with the 70s at least tbh.

vminkookie · 17/01/2021 12:28

*working 🙄

I know my dad in his eighties who is very healthy and a bit of a loner and doesn't mind being on his own would let my dh have his vaccine at the drop of a hat ! I know it doesn't work like that but we are a family of six fearing for my dh's health every time one of us steps out of the door/ kids going to apprenticeships/ college etc. It's no way to live, the kids are so scared worrying they could bring the virus into the house.

Same here!
middleager · 17/01/2021 12:53

Sorry Baby that sounds stressful. Will keep my fingers crossed for the CEV workers.

Hmmph · 17/01/2021 12:56

CEV working age are in priority 4 with the over 70s.

They are going to be done by mid Feb according to schedule, so only a month more.

The next lot is likely to start with critical workers - teachers and police especially. The plan is to have the rest of us done by autumn.

SexTrainGlue · 17/01/2021 12:56

CEV are priority 4, so should be done by mid Feb

From what JCVI said in December about phase 2:

The committee is currently of the view that the key focus for the second phase of vaccination could be on further preventing hospitalisation.

Vaccination of those at increased risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 due to their occupation could also be a priority in the next phase. This could include:

first responders
the military
those involved in the justice system
teachers
transport workers
public servants essential to the pandemic response.

Priority occupations for vaccination are considered an issue of policy, rather than for JCVI to advise on. JCVI asks that DHSC consider occupational vaccination in collaboration with other government departments.

I really hope they prioritise those in risky jobs rather than people who are fat. Hmm

When the swine flu was about and all education staff were vaccinated it was done in schools. So that's probably not a complete out there idea! They could take staff from the hubs to schools and get it done!
Hmmph · 17/01/2021 12:59
  1. residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
  2. all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
  3. all those 75 years of age and over
  4. all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
  5. all those 65 years of age and over
  6. all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
  7. all those 60 years of age and over
  8. all those 55 years of age and over
  9. all those 50 years of age and over

But rude and unpleasant people should go to the back of the queue. Off you pop.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 17/01/2021 13:02

@Babyroobs It's not just ECV of over 70 in the 4th group. It's all ECV plus all 70 to 75 people.

LemonTT · 17/01/2021 13:08

Key workers would be the first if they are not added into 1-9. Personally I would only do police, fire, teachers and national security under key workers. Then run down the age groups for everyone else. There’s no way to control access otherwise and the work needed to identify the current list of key workers would take for ever. Quicker to just crack through by age and health risk.

They can run police and other frontline key workers with the early rounds of second dose. The capacity will be huge by then compared to the early days of first dose to get them done. There’s probably an optimal model to end the whole thing ASAP and I doubt 20 year olds will wait 12 weeks for a second dose.
