Just been notified to isolate via track and trace app

I’ve just had an alert on my phone to isolate until the 21st from the NHS track and trace app. Counting back the days for 10 days isolation I was in Morrison’s supermarket on Tuesday.

I’m due in work on Monday and have emailed my line manager and the headteacher with a screen shot and to ask them what they want me to do. Legally you are not obliged to isolate unless notified by the track and trace team and I suspect I’ll be told to go to work (in a school covering keyworker children).

I’m currently fine, no temp, I have a mild backache and I’m tired but that due to homeschooling!

What have other people done who received an alert? Did your employer support isolation? Rates are really high in my area and I’m reluctant to ignore the alert but I also need my job (single parent).

If I understand correctly the app knows the first part of your postcode but not exactly where you live?

Zofloramummy · 17/01/2021 11:20

Hi thanks for the responses! To clarify I am working from home contacting ALN students to give support for online learning. I am also on the rota to cover the keyworker group in school. I am not a teacher I am support staff.

My Head has replied and is in agreement that I isolate. As notification to isolate by the app is not mandatory in law I did need their approval.

I will still be wfh over the 6 days obviously, and I’ll work an extra day on the rota the following week to make it equitable for other staff who’ve had to cover me this week.

I’ll have a look in the app but I couldn’t see where the contact had been last night and I was in a bit of a flap about it all!

My friend had an alert saying to isolate for 5 days, looking at the app contact was on the Monday, alert came on the next Sunday. So assume the positive person didn't know until then. But it makes me wonder about the intervening days.

SophieB100 · 17/01/2021 11:24

Sounds like a good decision by the Head, OP, glad it's all worked out for you. Hope you stay well.

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2021 11:33

I think you have to go into 'Manage this app' to find the contact date.

Zofloramummy · 17/01/2021 11:52

Great thanks @Sparklingbrook I’ve found it! Apparently my exposure was on the 11th which is surprising as I went to the co op briefly but otherwise was in work all day. So maybe one of the keyworker kids or staff has tested positive? Possibly find out tomorrow as they tend to circulate the positive cases on email (students only not staff) so the children don’t get hassled for not doing online work whilst they are unwell.

Would you say you spent 15 minutes at less than 2 metres from anyone that day?

I have the App but having a wobble about it TBH.

Zofloramummy · 17/01/2021 14:08

@Sparklingbrook I was in a room with no windows and air conditioning with 10 children and 2 other staff members for 6 hours so yes!

Ah ok so one of the other staff members is presumably positive. Do children have the app too?

Tbf the 2m for 15mins is a simplified public health message to help people reduce their contacts. In terms of contact tracing and the app algorithm it’s a bit more complicated.

It’s possible that you might have been closer to someone for a shorter period of time in the co-op if it isn’t someone in school.

Something I read said it can be cummulative too. So all 15 minutes might not belong to the same contact.

I am really not sure about this app!

I'm glad your Head told you to isolate OP

Medievalist · 08/02/2021 19:14

A few people on this thread have said the app tells you your exposure date. I've been pinged today but can't find anything that tells me when I came into contact with someone. Can anyone tell me where to look? Settings just covers language.

Heartofglass12345 · 10/02/2021 00:00

I haven't used it, but go back 10 days from your last day in isolation and it will give you the exposure date
