Vulnerable but don’t want to have the vaccine

I was talking to a friend today, she is working from home as has certain health issues that make her vulnerable to the virus but she doesn’t want to take the vaccine, where would she stand re stating to her employer she wants to stay working from home?

Does she have a documented medical reason why the vaccine wouldn't be safe for her?

Large majority of the vulnerable would need 2 doses of jab before any of us should be allowed back to 'normal' working practices, anyway. That could be a long way away.

I guess she’s entitled to request to stay working from home but equally her employer would be entitled to refuse. I doubt very much she has any ‘right’ to stay working from home if there’s no actual medical reason she can’t have the vaccine

After the first lockdown when employees were encouraged to get their workforce back in, where my son works, the MD said he couldn’t guarantee jobs if people didn’t return. About 5 said they didn’t want to return, so they were made redundant. Their jobs were filled quickly. It depends on the company, some may like to continue having staff at home.

But why doesn’t she want the vaccine, surely it would be safer for her to have it.

Many reasons but the main reason is she wants to try for a baby next year, she’s worried about if it causes infertility.

If she is only vulnerable and not extremely vulnerable it will be a while before she is called for the vaccination anyway. Hopefully there will be a bit more known about side effects by then.
I am in the vulnerable group and think April is a likely time for me.

Where does she stand? I expect she will have to return to work and suck up the risk of catching covid if her employer isn't amenable to her working from home.

I received an official shielding letter last week and that states that, even if you have had both doses of the vaccine, you should continue to shield. So in that case, this won't be an issue will it?
