I have been caring for other family members isolating in their bedrooms. Today I am running a temperature and really fatigued. I have dropped off hot drinks and fruit am making a plan and going back to bed. Even that is a struggle.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Are the other unwell people old enough to care for themselves ? So you could take it in turns to get food etc?

superstar84 · 16/01/2021 08:26

Can you order something like a subway for lunch so you don't have to make anything?

I'd get as many ready meals etc that you can x

DamnBadLuck · 16/01/2021 08:31

Sorry that you've all contracted it. My dd had it, isolated in her room and we consider ourselves fortunate not to have got it from her.

If everyone of you in the household are now unwell with covid, then surely everyone can emerge from their rooms and there is no longer any need to separate from each other? Presumably one of you is feeling a bit less drained than the other and can pick up the slack (unless the ones feeling most 'able' are small dc)

In the meantime do the absolute minimum. There are no top survival tips really

NellietheNumpty · 16/01/2021 08:34

See what you think? DH is positive and is 7 days in. He is coughing all the time and is sleeping most of the time. He is on the mend though.
DD started coughing Thursday and is mostly sleeping we haven’t had a result back for her yet. She is capable and probably the least unwell but if this isn’t COVID I don’t want to go near me and DH.
At the moment if I sleep now I can drop off sandwiches to the others later.

I just need to survive to DD’s test result, if it is positive I can hand over to her. I need to order a test too.

rest, rest, rest.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 16/01/2021 08:53

No covid but single parent. When I've been ill we've survived on a variety of of shortcuts. If you have a slow cooker that can be an absolute godsend. Dinner is generally no pre prep tomato based in the slow cooker meal (bolognese, lamb tagine, chicken curry, chilli, jack bean chilli).frozen chopped veg, tinned beans/chickpea/veg, meat it literally all gets slung in, no pre cooking. it's not high cuisine but it gets everyone fed and eating some veg. plus the occasional jar sauces if I'm really ill. Otherwise A lot of Tinned soup, cup a soup, cup a noodles for lunch. Short cuts like microwave rice and couscous instead of pasta or normal rice.

DamnBadLuck · 16/01/2021 08:55

When did dd have her test done? Was it done on Thursday? Hopefully results should be back any day now.

NellietheNumpty · 16/01/2021 08:56

@Hazelnutlatteplease Those are just the things I need. The kitchen now seems a long way from the bedroom. However we do have pouches of couscous and potatoes that can be put in the oven.
The other 2 are hungry but I just want to sleep.

Can you order things on Amazon prime now or Uber eats? Dont know where you are but mine will delivery shopping from Asda and Morrison's.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 16/01/2021 09:13

On a budget recommendation, just straight bulk couscous really is great. Stick it in a bowl with boiling water and a lid for 5 mins and it cooks. Add a stock cube if you want some flavour.

stripey1 · 16/01/2021 09:29

Are you on anyone's radar outside your house? Are there friends, family, neighbours, local volunteers/community groups that could drop off a hot or reheatable meal or a few cans of soup, cartons of fruit juice, anything easy and nutritious? I think there might be links or numbers on emails or texts from test results or contact tracing for local volunteers? There are so many good souls in this world that want to help and it sounds like you need to rest. Hope you all feel better soon.

NellietheNumpty · 17/01/2021 14:48

A quick update. Thanks for all the reassurance and suggestions yesterday. We have now all tested positive. This is perversely good news as we can all mix in the house and help each other.
@stripey1 I asked for help and have variously received chocolate, ginger beer, fruit and home cooked soup.

Cereal, ice cream and toasted sandwiches were good when me and OH had it. We took it in turns to nap whilst the other looked after 4yo whilst laying horizontally on the sofa. It was hard.
Hope you feel better ASAP. Thanks

Thanks for updating, I'm sorry to hear you all have it but I'm glad you got a bit of help and that you can help each other now too. I hope you all fight it off quick, do keep letting people know what you need and use 111 if anyone worsens, help is out there.
Hazelnutlatteplease · 17/01/2021 17:59

You have lovely friends Grin

You all take good care of yourself and each other x

GoldenPoppy · 17/01/2021 18:21

Dont be afraid to ask for help, use your friends/neighbours you will be surprised how many casserole/chilli/curry meals you will get cooked for you. Its an absolute godsend. I was too weak to feed the dog. So I cut the top of a bag of dog food and left it next to a bucket of water. Not ideal but dog was fine.
Let the house slide, the mess will keep.

CCSS15 · 17/01/2021 20:54

Dioralyte and laying face down may help

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 26/01/2021 19:41

How are you all now?

We're just starting that journey really. Any advice? It's so frightening

keepondreaming · 26/01/2021 19:59

All three of us just recovering after over 2 weeks. It is a perverse relief to all be positive, you can all just be together!

My tips: sleep, sleep as much and as often as you want/need to. Paracetamol regularly, even if you're feeling ok. Eat little and often, we didn't lose sense taste/smell although food was a bit bland. Soup, cheese on toast, sausages, potato's in any form - comfort food! Forget the housework for at least a week, no harm will come if the vacuuming isn't done or the wash basket is full. Try not to worry too much, it IS horrible but chances are extremely high you'll get through it without any medical intervention. NHS 111 are fab if you have any Qs. Test & trace phoned regularly and reassured us.

Good luck!
