Delayed vaccine side effects?

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 18:53

Anyone had what they thought were delayed vaccine side effects?

Had vaccine on Tues and now this evening feeling lightheaded (despite lying down) and temp is creeping up, now nearly a degree above my normal temp but still 'normal'

Otherwise been fine since the vaccine, some mild strange stomach pains and a bit tired but nothing significant.

Lateral flow test this morning negative

Anyone had anything similar? Wondering if it's linked to the vaccine

It takes a few days for your body to mount an immune response, so probably that.

FallenSky · 15/01/2021 19:01

Sounds like an immune response, means the vaccine is doing its job. Hopefully you won't feel much worse.

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 19:02

Thanks, I thought immune response would be within first 24-48 hours?

Maybe I'm a late developer Grin

I hope you feel better soon! Feeling ill is just rotten

RainySaturday · 15/01/2021 19:17

Please download the Zoe covid app for reporting symptoms. There's a million daily report their health and any symptoms, and they are moving on to tracking effects of the vaccine. It's legit. I've been on it for 7 months and it's a good one. Also gives interesting facts they've found.

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 19:20

@rainysaturday I've been on Zoe since the beginning, have logged on there Smile

You can report what you think might be vaccine side effects via the Yellow Card scheme

yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk

It's quite important that people know about this scheme and use it

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 19:24

Thanks @nether, I will definitely report and we have a way at work to report any perceived side effects.

If it creeps up any more I will have a fever, and so will get a PCR test. Now sitting at 37.4 despite sitting in a cold room in a t shirt, which for me is HOT! Usual temp 36.4

All my colleagues who became unwell after the vaccine did so within 48 hours...

I don’t know anything about vaccines or whatever funky immune magic they work but the fact the official line is that you won’t benefit from any immunity for approximately two weeks makes me think it would be normal to experience some symptoms in that time as your immune system does it thing.

Absolutely report to the yellow card scheme and consider covid-type symptoms for testing purposes though.

Defenbaker · 15/01/2021 19:29

That's interesting OP. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about but it's good to know what possible side effects people are having, so people know what to expect when it's their turn.

Which vaccine did you have?

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 19:34

I think it's interesting too Grin although feeling a bit crap.

I had the Pfizer vaccine. Most people I know who have had covid had the worst reactions after the vaccine- fevers, severe fatigue etc. although nowhere near as bad a covid itself. Those who haven't had covid (like myself) barely had any side effects (or so I thought until now!). Barely even had a sore arm!

Don’t want to be a party pooper, but you could actually have Covid, despite the negative LFT. Let’s hope not.

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 19:40

@puzzledobserver I do hope not, aware that LFTs are not 100% accurate. Going to keep an eye on temp and if it goes above 37.5 I will definitely get a test.

I am considering going for a test tomorrow even so as 37.4 is not at all normal for me.

OP posts:
PuzzledObserver · 15/01/2021 21:49

I hope not too.

The absence of a temperature (or any other symptom) is not definitive. I didn’t have a temperature when I tested, although I did get one the following day, only for a few hours. DH has never had a temperature. Main symptoms for both of us have been cough and fatigue, with a side order of diarrhoea. And loss of appetite.

bendybeep · 15/01/2021 21:59

Are you unwell now @PuzzledObserver? Hope you feel better soon.

Temp was up for a couple of hours, now down to 36.7. We'll see if anything happens overnight...

My symptoms started on New Year’s Eve, DH a few days before. We’ve never been “ill in bed” ill, thankfully, just had no energy to do more than bare essentials. Starting to feel better the last couple of days :-)

The past few days we’ve been out for a walk. The first day was only 10 minutes. Today we managed more than 20 - a whole mile, including a hill. After that, I went to the supermarket, and when I got back, DH was doing the ironing. This is a miraculous transformation compared to a few days ago.

I was given no information before or after my vaccine. My friend took pictures of all the leaflets and sent them to me and it said about the yellow card. Many of my colleagues had strong effects but none got told about this.
bendybeep · 16/01/2021 09:02

Well I'm fine now but getting a test today.

Hopefully neg and will be able to report as delayed vaccine side effects.

Glad to hear you’re better today.

bendybeep · 16/01/2021 09:41

I missed your previous post @PuzzledObserver, glad you are both starting to feel better. Don't overdo it though! Hope your appetite comes back soon.

will be able to report as delayed vaccine side effects.

What you felt a bit hot for a few hours but didn’t actually record a fever? Do you think that you might be a bit hyper vigilant?

bendybeep · 16/01/2021 12:19

@pinktonic I felt shivery despite recording a temperature a degree higher than normal, as well as lightheaded and dizzy like I was going to pass out.

Working in a hospital I am of course hypervigilent. I want to do everything I can to prevent the spread of the virus to vulnerable patients!
