Hi, can anyone tell me if it’s safe to mix with my partner even though he still testing positive for Covid? He done 14 days isolation and according to nhs he’s fine to come out of isolation but I can’t help worry that he’s still positive. Apparently he can test positive for up to 90 days. I’m CEV and petrified of cathching it but I can’t lock him up forever 😂. His employer wants a negative test result before he returns to work but that could be 90 days 😩😩

He can have a positive test in the 90 days after his test but that doesn't mean he is contagious. 10 days is the isolation period so if he is feeling OK and hadn't had a fever in the last 48 hours then he's fine to be around others

And you arent supposed to test again, without symptoms, for a period of 90 days as the test can pick up fragments of the old virus and give a positive test when they are no longer contagious

Yes this is correct. He should be pass his contagious period now

He only got tested as his employer said they must have a negative test to return to work (which he doesn’t) if he could test positive for 90 days I don’t see his employer letting him go back. Also, someone told me the nhs staff must have two negative tests before they can return to work but how could this be if the test will remain positive. Sooooooo confusing

Nhs staff. We don't have negative tests before a return to work. 10 days isolation from onset of symptoms or positive swab if asymptomatic and then straight back to work. No negative test needed. Some staff have still been positive after that time and have been told to return anyway

dementedpixie · 15/01/2021 18:27

Nhs staff are specifically told not to test within 90 days of a positive test

dementedpixie · 15/01/2021 18:32

Should.not take part in asymptomatic testing for 90 days

Sorry what does CEV mean? Keep seeing it everywhere

dementedpixie · 15/01/2021 18:34

Clinically extremely vulnerable i think (people who would be shielding)

Thanks for reply. That’s put my mind at ease. I’m on immunosuppressants and afraid to let him out because he’s still positive 😩
So do you think his employer isn’t allowed to ask for a negative test result?
