I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t feel able to meet up with a friend if you both knew for sure that you had had it recently? I am not going to - I try not to break laws! - but given we know having it gives as much immunity as the jab, why wouldn’t you?

I would

XenoBitch · 14/01/2021 19:17

You can meet for a walk anyway so it doesn't matter if you have had it or not.

MaryShelley1818 · 14/01/2021 19:18

I would meet outdoors but wouldn't break lockdown rules.

SnowFields · 14/01/2021 19:19

Are you asking from a medical, moral, practical or legal perspective?

2020out · 14/01/2021 19:19

We don't know how much immunity it gives, or how easily immune people can spread it.

I wouldn't, because I don't need to and right now I want to minimise contact as much as I can, just in case. Once case rates drop, I'll be much more ready, with some increased confidence that I am probably unlikely to pass the virus on.

Rainb0wDrops · 14/01/2021 19:19

I think that news article today saying that immunity lasts up to 5 months will inevitably lead to lots of people breaking lockdown rules

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 14/01/2021 19:21

Because no part of the rules say you are exempt if you have had it Hmm

LaurieFairyCake · 14/01/2021 19:24

Because you can still pick it up literally - it could be stuck to your hands after you've touched a bus rail

You could then transfer it to her - and even though she's had it it's ON her to take it back to another household

PEOPLE WHO'VE HAD IT AND PEOPLE WHO'VE HAD THE VACCINE CAN STILL GET RE-INFECTED (just not seriously!) - AND THEY CAN STILL PASS IT ON !

herecomesthsun · 14/01/2021 19:29

People who had the virus can get reinfected. The second infection can be worse than the first (there is a case study from April/ May that showed this scenario, the person was reinfected with a different strain on lab testing the second time, the 2 infections were about 6 weeks apart).

Nerdygirl · 14/01/2021 20:09

It’s extremely rare as we have seen with the numbers to get reinfected. I would do it, it’s permitted

bitheby · 14/01/2021 20:21

This is why Neil Ferguson got kicked off SAGE. Recovered from Covid then visited his girlfriend. Broke the rules even though he thought it was likely to be safe.

I've not seen any significant evidence of this published anywhere. I might be looking in the wrong places, but if you did have a link it would be very interesting to see.
