Different wording on positive results

Me and my partner both did tests, his came back saying that he HAD the virus when the test was done and mine said LIKELY HAD the virus when the test was done. Why is there different wording on the automated messages? Can anyone advise what theirs said and any ideas why the wording was different on his and mine?

The had ones usually come from pcr tests, the likely had ones from lateral flow. Did you do different tests?

No, both the swab tests that you post. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Results might have been sent from different labs who have different assays, and therefore different wording for their results. I’ve worked across several labs, and positive, detected and reactive could be used interchangeably.

Also, if his was a low positive they may hedge their bets and say likely rather than confirmed.

That's interesting, so one of us could have maybe had it for longer or shorter amount of time? Interesting about the different labs, that's also quite interesting. It was just the different wording that confused me a little. Although positives are positives and thankfully we've been self isolating anyway.
