House bound - Covid vaccination ?

FippertyGibbett · 13/01/2021 12:24

I have an elderly relative who has deteriorated and become house bound. They have not seen the GP in the last several months.
She has carers in twice a day so can’t isolate.
She hasn’t had her Covid vaccine yet as she was only offered a clinic appointment.
Does anyone know if she should be offered a home visit ?
The GP surgery doesn’t seem to know what’s happening.

I know in our area we have been sorting out plans for housebound vaccinations - we were one of the areas with early start of vaccinations so it may be a timing issue of when capacity is able to manage hubs and housebound etc

OK thanks.
With the carers going from house to house, as is their job - I’m not complaining - we’re just concerned.

My grandpa is having his at home on Friday, even though my gran is much fitter and still drives. They're in Norfolk

Is there any way you can get your relative to their vaccine? I think plans are being put in place for home vaccines but depending on area it might be a while to wait.

Our surgery are doing at the door vaccinations for those in the priority groups who are housebound.

(Also Norfolk)

No. She has Alzheimer’s and is now house bound.

What do you mean when you say the GP doesn't know what's happening? They will have to make the arrangements for her to be vaccinated at home. She isn't the only housebound patient they have, they will have to have a method to cover them all.

The logistics will no doubt mean it will take a bit longer but they will have to sort it out. I find it quite hard to believe that they don't have at least a plan to have a plan for those who can't leave their homes

FippertyGibbett · 13/01/2021 14:42

If they have a plan they aren’t telling us.

Did they literally say they weren't going to tell you what their plan is?
FippertyGibbett · 13/01/2021 16:03

They said that they cannot say at the moment when it will be.

Ch3rish Many GP surgeries are playing no part in this vaccination programme. A big misconception. We're not, and have no idea what's happening with our housebound any more than the patients do. It's all being coordinated elsewhere.
So no, it isn't necessarily the GP's job to 'sort it out'.

Why is she housebound?

Do you mean bed bound?
