Boyfriends office has had 5 positive cases
He's unwell today and has been for a test. He's says it's definitely covid, tight chest, headache, cough, fever. His brother who he works next to was one of the positive cases
I feel fine
Do I stay in work until he gets a positive result then isolate

I personally wouldnt be leaving the house, your boyfriend is sure he has covid... Why would you go out and potentially spread it about?

Northernsoullover · 13/01/2021 10:57

No. The whole house needs to isolate until the results come back. Do you live together?

Daisysflowers · 13/01/2021 11:05

Anyone living in the same household isolates until the person with symptoms gets test results.

PurpleDaisies · 13/01/2021 11:07

Do you live together?

MozzchopsThirty · 13/01/2021 11:10

No we don't live together

I am a keyworker so am expected to work

You can go to work then, unless he comes back positive and then depending on what contact you’ve had you might need to isolate them. I’d talk to your line manager though, in case they don’t want you in.

Reallybadidea · 13/01/2021 11:17

Presumably he's in your support bubble? If so then you need to isolate if you had contact with him in the 48 hours before he developed symptoms.

MozzchopsThirty · 13/01/2021 11:32

But only if he tests positive yes?

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 13/01/2021 11:34

Are you in a support bubble?

PurpleDaisies · 13/01/2021 11:36

When did you see him and when did he develop symptoms?

Myalternate · 13/01/2021 11:43

Isolate. He's feeling unwell and a close contact is positive for covid. You should isolate if you've had contact with him recently.

LizB62A · 13/01/2021 11:44

But only if he tests positive yes?

See, this is how it spreads.
His colleagues have tested positive and he has symptoms.
Yet you still seem to think that you can go out and about normally until he also gets a positive result.

If you've been seeing him it's much better to assume that he is positive and follow the guidance....

greensnail · 13/01/2021 11:45

If he's in your support bubble it's the same as being in the same household, so you need to isolate from when he develops symptoms.

Reallybadidea · 13/01/2021 11:51

@MozzchopsThirty

But only if he tests positive yes?
No the government guidance is that other members of support bubbles should isolate for symptoms too.
Justforphoto · 13/01/2021 11:58

If you are in a support bubble and have been seeing him in that way then you are deemed as one household despite not living together and yes you do need to isolate as he has symptoms

MozzchopsThirty · 13/01/2021 12:05

Ok I'm off home now

MozzchopsThirty · 13/01/2021 12:06

I last saw him Monday morning and his symptoms started yesterday

If you are waiting for results of a test WITH NO SYMPTOMS, the household can go about their business. People are getting asymptomatic testing with their local authority and they are free to go out. Healthcare workers are also being tested weekly and are allowed to go out when waiting for results.

If someone in the house has symptoms, with or without the test, the household must isolate for 10 days. You can only go back out after someone with symptoms gets a negative result and the symptoms are due to something else.

AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 13/01/2021 12:09

Household includes people bubbled.

LizB62A · 13/01/2021 12:28

You need to also warn anyone that you've been in contact with over the past 48hrs so they can also keep an eye out for symptoms over the next 10 or so days (I know the guidance says 10 days but some people take longer to show symptoms, or don't show any at all)

This is why they government have finally said what a lot of us have been doing for a while:
"Act as if you have the virus and act as if everyone else does too" !!
