Ds nursery COVID

One of the parents at DS nursery has COVID - not sure if the child has it yet or whether DS is close contact.
But does that mean we have to self isolate? I'm supposed to go to work tomorrow (work in manufacturing so have to be in person) and not sure what I should do!

What has the nursery told you to do?

holidayoncorona · 12/01/2021 23:50

They just found at late tonight so they don't know either!

We will probably just stay at home tomorrow but manager won't be happy!

No you don't have to isolate. Their child will have to obviously but nursery can open as usual unless the child tests positive.

With the information you have, then officially you’re not currently an immediate contact, so no, you don’t need to self isolate. However, you may want to check with your work place and see what their thoughts are on it. You could also check with track and trace and see what they say. It’s such a minefield.
We had Covid at Christmas. DH started with symptoms on the Sunday when I was at work (hospitality). DH then got a positive Tuesday morning. Track & trace didn’t want to contact anybody in my work place at that stage. (I didn’t get my positive until ten days later, so way after they expected me to).

This has happened a few times at my sons setting. The child of the parent will need to isolate but everyone else continues as normal.

feathermucker · 13/01/2021 08:28

No, you don't need to isolate.

Abraxan · 13/01/2021 08:31

At present your child doesn't need to isolate as they are not a close contact of someone with covid.
If the other child tests positive then nursery will tell you if your child is a close contact.
At that point your child will need to self isolate for 10 days from the last contact with them. Technically you and the rest of your family don't need to self isolate though.

dementedpixie · 13/01/2021 08:33

No. Only your child would isolate if they had contact with a positive case. You would only isolate if you had contact with the positive parent.

Mousehole10 · 13/01/2021 08:37

As long as you didn’t have contact with them you don’t have to isolate. Your DC would have to if they had contact.

holidayoncorona · 13/01/2021 12:25

Thank you all. We are still waiting to hear if we need to isolate or not but just staying at home just in case. I might pull ds out of nursery anyway just in case

I don't want to infect my work mates!

The chances of the parent passing it to their child, their child passing it to your child and then your child passing it to you without any symptoms is literally miniscule.
