Does anyone have any experience with this that can tell me the symptoms / journey that their child experienced?
Thanks xx

Anyone's child had this?

Bumping one more time just in case - daughter has come out in spots and slightly panicking inside whilst keeping cool on ourside!

I don't know anything about this but am bumping it for you.

Afaik it's pretty rare - is it worth calling your GP about?

Sitt · 13/01/2021 10:01

My understanding is that your child would likely already be so obviously unwell that you would likely be seeking medical attention without question. If you are worried then you need to contact your GP or 111.

I've read cases that first symptoms are rashes or spots for a few days before getting ill hence my little inside panic. So was wondering if anyone had experience to confirm the course of symptoms

Red eyes is quite an unusual symptom if your dc has that?

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 13/01/2021 12:04

No red eyes - but def swollen glands that I forgot to mention. Not an actual fever yet but her readings are higher than her sisters

OP posts:
Layladylay234 · 13/01/2021 12:06

I understand that it only happens a good few weeks after they've had covid. Has she had a positive test and how long ago?

Also if her glands are swollen, could just be a viral rash? How old is she?

@Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies

Have any of your DC had COVID??

Afaik the PIMS syndrome happens after recovery from COVID.

I'm worried in case this happens too.

In November my DS got a strange quite extensive rash and then 10 days later a temperature, headaches, nausea, fatigue, less appetite. Lasted for nearly two weeks, the rash lasted over 3 weeks. He tested positive.

During this time DD began with temperature, headaches, chest pains, joint pains, covid toes and fingers, fatigue, less appetite. Again lasted nearly two weeks. Two negative tests but I think it was false neg since DS was positive.

DS is still a bit more tired than before and sometimes feels nauseous. Since starting home school he's had headaches.

DD still gets 'burning lungs' when going up stairs etc, a bit more tired and feels full quicker.

Hopefully mine are still just recovering.

The PIMS thing is quite severe illness. Have you checked for symptoms of it??

I'm sorry you are worried. I am too in case mine get it.

Maybe call your GP and mention PIMS to them?? xx

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 13/01/2021 12:17

So none of us have had covid symptoms to be tested but I'm aware families from DD class had it over Xmas so wondering if the kids had it asymptomaticallu... I've read that the PIMS is often after asymptomatic covid as the body was able to fight off the initial infection but continues to fight too much / itself (if I've understood it correctly) I know it can be very severe but if ave thought some get it only to a level that can be managed at home. And I've read that it can start with rashes pe spots days before seeing the other symptoms. I do have a GP scheduled app for today - still awaiting their call. She has a borderline fever - not quite in the fever range but higher than her norm and swollen glands - she's happy in herself too. So sorry to read about your child - I hope things get back to normal soon! It's so so worrying. If it wasn't that she hasn't been ins chool for almost 4 weeks I'd have suspected it was chicken pox

Sounds like my DS is similar to your DD. Tested negative at the end of September with identical symptoms to his sister who tested positive (she was a close contact of another confirmed case).

Since then sheer exhaustion so i'm so glad he's not going to school right now. He sleeps 10-12 hours most nights but is often falling asleep at the dinner table. He has no energy at all, nor can he do any form of exercise as his lungs feel they are on fire.

OP - neither of my DC had any of the 3 main symptoms and i know of other children that were similar. All of them had headaches to start with, some rashes but very few with a temperature/cough. Have your DC tested positive for Covid?

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 13/01/2021 12:29

No not had her tested - imagine the doc may qdvise me to get her done...

OP posts:
thecountdownfinal · 13/01/2021 12:46

@Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies

My DS was one of at least 8 pupils in his class who went on to test positive.

Has your DD had any contacts at all over the last 10-14 days??

It could be another non-covid illness, but if she's not had any contact outside the home for weeks then that would probably be unlikely.

My DD (15) did get a swollen gland on one side of her groin just after the main symptoms ended. DS (who tested positive) is 11.

I really hope it's not PIMS. I worry about that too.

Good luck for the GP callback.

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 13/01/2021 14:11

This is my youngest daughter so she's only 4. Since school broke up for Xmas she has bumped into two friends outside when on walks and that's it - not been in shops with me or in anyone's houses and no one in our house. I do go to shops once a week and other half works outside the house so we aren't fully protected. She has friends at school who's parents weee very poorly with covid over Xmas so possible the kids had it in school before the hols asymptomatically - but just can't see what general virus is could be when we are pretty cautious and rule followers

Hope they can help.
Chicken pox can be up to 21d. pox is apparently more contagious than covid so you maybe could get that outside or less contact.

Or some kids get a shingles rash with covid.

That's very interesting - I did not know that chicken pox was more contagious than covid!
