Gut Health & severe Covid

Its being reported today that people with poor gut health are at higher risk of developing severe Covid. What can one do to improve ones gut health? Any top tips other than downing an Actimel a day & hoping for the best? Thanks.

Eat probiotic foods- foods that feed your gut microbes. Fibre rich veg, basically.
Eat fermented foods to increase the variety of microbe- live yogurt, blue cheese and Brie, live sauerkraut, kombucha, kefir.

Avoid foods that feed unhelpful microbes- refined foods.

But switch gently- guzzling all that over a day may have unfortunate consequences! Build up the live foods gradually.

Tim Spector who runs the Zoe app has a lot to say about gut health.

The food doctor on Facebook also does.

Drink kefir, although not as good as fermenting it at home, you can find it in all supermarkets (next to yoghurt,
Actimel, etc)

I think you'd need more probiotic than a yoghurt could offer.

Gut issues are often inflammatory issues like hose psoriasis sufferers are at risk - ulcerative colitis as an example is like a psoriasis of the gut

Turmeric and circumin supplement too, to promote healthy biome
