Covid vaccine and pregnancy

Hi,

Have any of you expectant mothers had the vaccine yet? I'm not even sure if they can have it

I'm a student nurse and I've been invited for a vaccine, no guidance or anything attached and I haven't done my research yet and would like to check with the midwife.

I also had my TB vaccination when I was pregnant (unknowingly) so I'm not sure if I can actually have it as I was told no vaccinations for 3 months so I need to check.

But how did you react to the vaccine if you've had it whilst pregnant?

In the UK they currently only recommend while pregnant if you’re clinically vulnerable I think, due to a lack of evidence not any specific concerns.
In America a lot of pregnant healthcare workers are being vaccinated. I know it’s not much use for you right now but they’ll be following a lot of these women up very closely so we Shiism have better data later in the year.

There's not much research available on it is there. I won't be having it, I'm already being monitored due to accidentally having a TB vaccination before I knew I was pregnant, so I'm extra cautious and really anxious around it.

There was a discussion about this on Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 this morning which explained this clearly. You can hear it on the BBC Sounds website.

It's not recommended for pregnant women as they haven't trialled it.

If strongly suggest asking whether any harm to your baby would be covered by their insurance (I doubt it will be).

I wonder about this, all my colleagues are getting it yet I can’t and I’m more vulnerable. Covid can be really dangerous in pregnancy.

I mean if they don’t want to vaccinate pregnant front line workers they should let us work from home.

meltedgalaxy · 12/01/2021 20:24

I agree @stairway I am on placement, every MDT we have the doctors complain about the amount of staff in the office that can be working from home. I can't visit patients and my supervisor has said she has little for me to shadow or be involved with. I sit at a desk in a rather busy office researching medication which I can do from home.

Our hospital is heavily infected with covid, yet our office that can WFH is still working in office.
