Where can I find impartial information about the Covid vaccines?

I have a family relative who has been offered the vaccine but she is petrified of having it and is at the moment declining it. she has been told she can have time to think it over which is really good but so much of the info we are finding online is opinion rather than fact.

I would like to help her make an informed choice. Where is the best place to start looking?

Thank you for all the useful links. I will pass them over so she can have a look.

Nobody has died after the vaccine.

Although the anti-vaxxers did a nice editon a person that fainted after tha vaccine. Someone that faints at every vaccine. They lied and said she wS dead.

The medical unformation is correct, theres no other side ti itas it's a lie.

Tbe worse side effects are some muscle ache, possible nausea and mild headaches.

Tell your sister to stay away from the liars and exxagerattors. She's early on the list to be called up so she must need it.

With the high levels as current dont let your sister risk catching it and possibly losing her life.

CDC report on adverse reactions up til mid/late December. Yes it's US and Pfizer, but hopefully it will help www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7002e1.htm

This is the insert from the Pfizer vaccine.
She needs to look at the research info. She should not be reading random posts on FB.
There's no reason not to trust the information on the NHS website.
If she's had a reaction to the flu vaccine previously, what she really needs to do is speak to her GP who can advise her on what the risk of her having similar side effects are.

Where can I find impartial information about the Covid vaccines?

@lljkk

Does she know why she had a bad reaction to flu jab -- what were her symptoms?

The jab is bound to be a nicer experience than having covid if she's age 80+.

FIL had a heartattack after flu jab
gooseygooseywanderingfree · 12/01/2021 19:25

@PusheenLove most likely a very unfortunate coincidence, unless you've been told otherwise by the treating medical team?

I'll just put this here, for people who may have been freaked out by your post...

FIL had a heartattack after flu jab

Is there any evidence to suggest the flu jab caused it or is it the much more likely case that he happened to have a heart attack on the same day as his flu jab?

GwendolineMarysLaces · 12/01/2021 19:36

The data from the double blind clinical trials is impartial. That's the whole point.

frumpety · 12/01/2021 19:56

I do get a bit annoyed at people who feel a bit shit after having a vaccine making out they have had 'serious' side effects. Especially when you consider all the side effects people are willing to put up with when having a variety of other medications and treatments. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy anyone ?

Did your relative require hospital admission and an inpatient stay following her Flu vaccine ?

If she needed to be admitted then she needs to let the people know who are offering her the covid vaccine, it may be they decide it wouldn't be a good idea for her to have it.

I work for the NHS, the vast majority of the healthcare workers have now been done in my area, I’m yet to meet a colleague that has had a racing heart or felt ill, yes a few muscle aches and a bit of fatigue for a day but that’s your body doing it’s job. It’s nothing more than a mild inconvenience and nothing like she says nurses are apparently describing. That was Oxford. I’ve yet to meet anyone that has been affected by the Pfizer one.

frumpety · 12/01/2021 20:30

@Nhsisfucked I had the Pfzier one about two hours ago, will let you know if my head drops off Wink

Nhsisfucked · 12/01/2021 20:55

@frumpety ha I do hope you make it through the night Wink but seriously I actually felt a bit emotional being so lucky to get mine last week!

gooseygooseywanderingfree · 12/01/2021 21:03

I know a lot of people who have had the Pfizer vaccine (including me). Most just had a sore arm. A few had chills, aches, pains. One vomited. Some peoples arm swelled up slightly.
All felt better within 12-24 hours. None had side effects that aren't listed as "common" on the insert I posted earlier.
As someone has said, it's a sign that your body is reacting, which is what we want.

GwendolineMarysLaces · 12/01/2021 21:54

I had the Pfizer one at 2.30pm. Slightly stiff arm so far. Lots of my colleagues done and that's the only side effect anyone has mentioned

No- that can happen in very rare cases with live vaccines. The Covid vaccines are not live
Trackandtrace · 12/01/2021 22:53

Thanks thats great relief 👍

CoffeeandCroissant · 12/01/2021 23:24

CDC page is quite good:

DianaT1969 · 12/01/2021 23:55

Honestly, I'd leave her to it. She can take her chances with Covid. She won't be the only one who declines. All the more for people who are desperate to get back to normal.
