I can't believe this shit

I can't believe we are back to vilifying people for driving to a wood for a walk, joggers, dog walkers, people desperate to get out of the house. I just can't take anymore. My year 10 finishes his so-called home learning in 1 hour, fucking hell I seriously can't take anymore.

Who are you talking about who is vilifying people who are getting out of the house? If on MN or in on-line papers, then step away and just don't read them. Just follow the rules and ignore whatever else is being spouted.

Theunamedcat · 12/01/2021 13:05

And school dinners so what if it only costs a fiver and the company keeps £25 they should be grateful peasants and eat dirt like children who have two working parents apparently have too do

mioz · 12/01/2021 13:07

You can and you will, because what other option is there at the moment? Follow restrictions, get fresh air, look after yourself. It’s all any of us can do right now.

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2021 13:07

What the what now?

Porcupineintherough · 12/01/2021 13:38

If your Y10 is finishing his home learning in 1 hour there is a serious problem and you need to speak to the school.

Icanseegreenshoots · 12/01/2021 14:02

It all abit much, I get it op.

Wejustdontknow · 12/01/2021 14:16

@Porcupineintherough my y10 ds’s school day finishes at 2:30, I imagine that’s normal for some areas. His day is 8:30-2:30

Porcupineintherough · 12/01/2021 14:18

@Wejustdontknow Blush I read it as the work he was being given was taking an hour (toral) to complete. OP please ignore my post.

DuchessofHastings1 · 12/01/2021 14:19

Totally agree, OP.

It setting people against each other.

There was a video surfaced the other week where a neighbour had reported someone going into someone's house.
The police barge in only to be told it was that person's daughter coming from hospital after a serious operation.

We are living in a police state.

Ponoka7 · 12/01/2021 14:22

I think it shows just how many of the Police would like our country to be and the power they would really like to have. Civil liberties in any form wouldn't exist if they were in charge.

thefallthroughtheair · 12/01/2021 14:27

I feel your pain and the way you feel is valid.
Step away from SM. At the very least hide the MN threads/boards that are utterly bonkers.
You'll feel a lot better for it.

NoOneOwnsTheRainbow · 12/01/2021 14:29

It's disturbing how ready everyone is to blame the victims of this harassment.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/01/2021 14:31

This place (mumsnet) is bonkers. We live in South Norfolk and police aren’t stopping anyone here. We have a very active community page and believe me we would know if they had! Everyone here drives to the woods, parks, beaches to exercise. In a rural area we have to really. No one bats an eyelid. Mumsnet is like some weird bubble where someone walking 5 mins and sitting on a bench is crucified.

I don't agree with this at all. I think, like teachers, police are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they don't apply fines then they're condoning rule breaking, and if they do then they're heavy handed. There will always be silly examples of cock ups in any job, but usually we're able to see these anomalies for what they are.
OwlWearingGlasses · 12/01/2021 14:34

I think people are just wanting others to follow the rules. That way they aren't putting others at risk, the transmission rates will be reduced and we can come out of lockdown quicker.

Apparently I need to be grateful my son is on DLA so I can claim carers and not work admittedly it's been handy during a pandemic as I've not had to struggle to work and educate the children but under normal circumstances? I would rather NOT see my child struggle daily to understand concepts that a toddler can somedays i feel if I have to listen to him scream enraged because he has lost his words or because he cant cuddle me when I'm cooking by a hot oven I will go insane

But yeah grateful 🙏

Hadenough80 · 14/01/2021 21:14

@Theunamedcat I totally get where you are coming from.
I don't work and get carers allowance for my son, although I have 3 children with ASD.
Some people really don't understand, I really wouldn't be that jealous of someone that earns a big whopping £67 a week.
