Dodgy vaccine offer?

An elderly male relative of mine sees a chiropractor once a week and they have become friends over the years. He is qualified and has his own small practice. My relative has told me that this chiropractor has said he’s ‘got doses of the vaccine for his staff and will do his at the same time’. That’s dodgy isn’t it? Considering the conditions needed to deliver the vaccine?

Sounds dodgy as anything.

At the minute it’s only available through vaccination centres, hospitals, GP surgeries as far as I’m aware.

Shock no way us that legit.I think I would be contacting here and expressing my concerns

The Oxford one is in circulation now and that only needs to be kept in a fridge but unless someone has nabbed some vials in don’t think chiropractic any.

Just a bump to see if anyone knows of medical professionals offering the vaccine outside of the official call up before I report it.

I bet he will charge a couple of hundred quid for it as well. Not that I think he has the actual vaccine, but it sounds as if he will convince some customers Sad

legalseagull · 11/01/2021 22:03

Is he asking for money for it?

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 11/01/2021 22:04

Yes definitely dodgy. The MHRA’s conditions of authorisation are for NHS use only. Either it’s a complete scam (i.e. not a vaccine at all) or it has been diverted from the legal supply. It’s also illegal to administer the vaccine without a prescription or valid PGD, and a chiropractor is not covered by the National Protocol.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/01/2021 22:09

Yep scam. It's not available privately at all.

AnyFucker · 11/01/2021 22:11

Wow. If this is real, you must report it.

Motorina · 11/01/2021 23:37

It's dodgy as anything, for all the reasons @WiseUpJanetWeiss outlines above.

I'd also question why anyone needs to see a chiropractor weekly for years. I think chiropractors are great - on the rare occasions my back plays up they're my first port of call. But weekly for years? That rather suggests they're taking his money for something which isn't actually sorting the problem. If they can't fix whatever takes him there, they should be referring on to someone who can.

Ultimately his money, but it makes me twitch.

BlueBaubles12 · 11/01/2021 23:38

Very dodgy. Don’t touch it with a barge pole.

AnneTwackie · 12/01/2021 09:04

@Motorina I’ve had this conversation with him before, he’s in pain until he has his ‘neck clicked’, it’s ridiculous. Thanks everyone, confirmed what I thought.

Which in itself is a problem- if there's an underlying issue that needs looking at then all the "clicking" could be making it worse.

Frazzled2207 · 12/01/2021 09:24

Definitely dodgy. Reassure your elderly relative that he will be high up on the list for the non-dodgy version
