No-one knows. You'll have to wait for the government announcement like the rest of us I'm afraid.

badpuma · 11/01/2021 18:33

I doubt very much everything will be open by April.

Ostryga · 11/01/2021 18:34

I think July/august time is a more reasonable guess tbh.

BananaSpanner · 11/01/2021 18:45

I can’t see soft play opening for ages. Theme parks were open by summer 2020 so potentially same this year. I think Easter is ambitious.

That said we had Center Parcs booked for new year which obviously got cancelled, we’ve rearranged the booking to Easter in the hope that it might go ahead, we are prepared that it might not though and haven’t told the kids about it.

I think holidays are going to look different for a couple of years really. We had an all inclusive to Greece booked last summer, cancelled and rebooked similar holiday this year. If it goes ahead at all, I think it will be a very muted version of what we had hoped for, which is fine, we have loads of other things to worry about.

JamieLeesCurtains · 11/01/2021 18:49

Can't see it happening, OP.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/01/2021 18:52

Summer for outdoor activities, can’t see indoor places open for a good while.

Marzipan12 · 11/01/2021 18:54

Don't think so. Schools will be first to open and realistically that won't be untill march. Everything else will be stagered slowly after that.

Flackattack · 11/01/2021 19:05

I just can’t imagine this dragging on but I can’t see it before Easter but people will be finding it hard and businesses will be struggling so much!

If this pandemic has taught us anything it's that there is zero point in trying to second guess the future.

Even the experts won't say when they think the NHS will be in a good enough state to lift any restrictions.

I've just said to DH. To put the money aside and just book when we know what's what.
He likes to get things booked as likes to be organised but obviously at this precise moment it's impossible.

I think June July time for outdoors and possibly late summer for soft play.

I honestly can't remember what order everything opened last year.
I'm pretty sure we went to peppa world in July or August before schools opened in Sept. The year is a blur

We went to Alton towers at the beginning of September, so they were definitely reopen for a bit

(England) There was a slight social relaxation in May. Certain year groups in school start of June Non-essential shops mid-June Pubs, cafes, museums, playgrounds early July Indoor leisure mid-August (slight delay as R rate rose) Return to schools, university campuses September.

Some areas (Leicester, NW) did not get a full reopening July/ Aug. Other areas such as Birmingham fell under additional restrictions from September which later became a more standardised tier system.

Outdoor services are lower risk than indoor e.g. outdoor fitness classes can continue in tier 3 but not indoor classes.

I would assume that the tier system would be used to phase in relaxations through the spring/ summer.

If I was booking to go away in the UK, I'd go for somewhere with enough outdoor attractions and indoor avaliability is a bonus.

Globally, rates have dropped drastically in the spring as respiritory illness rates naturally plummet regardless of management methods. Between that and increasingly getting the most vulnerable in society vaccinated, restrictions may well ease earlier and faster than last summer. I'm optomistic for April onwards, but gosh it's a slog at the moment.
