More and more vaccines are approved for use until eventually there are enough vaccines for everybody. People can choose not to have it but then they take their chances with the illness just like any other illness. We go back to normal and Covid is another illness that's around but mild-moderate for most who catch it. People will still be hospitalised and even die but nothing like the numbers we're seeing now. We all just gradually accept that it's part of our new health landscape and get in with our lives.

That sounds like a reasonable answer to it all.

I agree with @ChristmasinJune although I think that covid will continue to make headlines for a couple of years as various levels of restrictions are lifted and then reintroduced along with reports of any outbreaks.

Scientists and healthcare providers will continue surveillance for mutations or signs of the vaccine waning long term.

Thank you for replying.
Both posters. So like flu? People have a vaccine or not. People die from flu, but businesses are not closed and social interaction goes on much like normal. And the flu vaccine is altered slightly each year. The NHS may have to expand a bit longer term, to cope with both flu and Coronavirus.

Well, all hospitals worldwide.

It will end up like flu.
At the moment I think it's the working age people who need hospital treatment with a good chance of recovery that the government are worried about. It becomes a disaster if too many young people die, very difficult to recover economically from children loosing parents, businesses loosing leaders.
Its not the old people in care homes that the government are worried about.

Cornettoninja · 09/01/2021 13:36

Similar to flu but I suspect that it will be more like TB or polio, particularly if evidence of the long term effects continue to grow.

All wealthy countries will vaccinate most of their people, then they will assist the poorer countries to get the vaccines. As pp said, it will eventually become like the flu is now - Covid will be just one of the strains which is covered by your annual flu shot.

i think trump is going to press the red button anyway, so it matters not

peak2021 · 09/01/2021 13:42

Vaccination.

Jaypreen · 09/01/2021 13:44

I don't know about world wide but as far as this country's concerned: if this ridiculous gov't's policies continues to be determined by a rate of infection and death-rate of the weakest and most vulnerable in our society, it'll never end...

lightand · 09/01/2021 17:03

Thank you for all replies.

@Jaypreen, that concerns me too.

The reason I put worldwide, is that it all allegedly started with 1 case in China?
So even if say the UK erradicated/controlled with a vaccine, the virus would still be in the world somewhere. People thinking the virus is going to disappear worldwide, even with a vaccine, is unlikely.
