My husband had a test at work, from his description of it, it was actually an antibody test however they were using it as a diagnostic test. It came back positive. He has no symptoms what so ever.

I've had a headache for a day or so, so we both booked NHS tests that evening. This morning they have both come back negative.

We're going to still isolate for 10 days to be safe and he's not allowed back to work anyway as 'they have trust in their tests'.

Does this mean we've had it and are recovering? Or just an inaccurate test? We're very confused.

Was it a lateral flow test where you get the results in a short space of time? More likely to get a false negative with them.

It was a blood test, which leads me to think it was an antibody test Confused

Sounds a bit odd. What kind of company does he work for?

Lampan · 09/01/2021 09:11

An antibody test means he could have had it months ago and been asymptomatic. I don’t understand what you mean by saying they were using it as a diagnostic test.

A huge company, in the food industry.

How strange to give employees a blood test.

I'd phone 111 for advice.

@Lampan

They are saying that in their opinion he is currently positive and can't work for 10 days.

It doesn't make a huge difference to us as I'm currently wfh anyway.
