Are vaccinations happening at the weekend?

Probably a stupid question. Just thought I'd ask though. Looking forward to seeing the daily data from next week as it will definitely help with my MH to see vacc levels rising.

Yup, my mum is having hers at 9.45am today.
I will be watching the clock!

Blessex · 09/01/2021 08:33

Wow thanks to all those involved round the clock in this vaccination programme. Actually brought tears to my eyes to realise that it is happening all weekend. Thank goodness and thank you! @Rainbows321 your team is doing 1000 a day! Wow!

Rainbows321 · 09/01/2021 08:38

@notevenat20 it’s a hospital setting but doing community vaccines also. They are vaccinating all week 8am to 8pm but my team are doing the weekends as we work full time during the week Smile

Mummydoctor · 09/01/2021 08:38

Will mainly depend on supply of the vaccine. We’ve only had one batch delivered so far (so administered Thursday and Friday). Next Pfizer batch due Monday so clinics will be Wednesday and Thursday.

Missfelipe · 09/01/2021 08:41

I’m registered to volunteer as a Marshall at one of the large hubs and they asked for availability weekdays, evenings and weekends which I took to be a good sign.

Rainbows321 · 09/01/2021 08:42

@Blessex fingers crossed we can continue at that rate if supply keeps up with demand, that’s the biggest worry.

PumpkinPie2016 · 09/01/2021 08:44

Yes. My mum is senior carer in a nursing home. She is being vaccinated at 7pm tomorrow (Sunday).

She has also signed up to be a vaccinator herself which she will do when not working her main job. Our neighbour is a retired GP and she has also volunteered. So, hopefully, these extra people will help to get it out as quickly as possible.

Blessex · 09/01/2021 08:49

@Rainbows321 yes I am hoping the Oxford vaccine will help with supply now. They have reduced the number of days for approval I read. So fingers crossed. Am rhetorically holding my breath until my 77 year old dad (had a stroke last year) and 74 year old mum are protected.

Blessex · 09/01/2021 08:50

*metaphorically not rhetorically!

Rainbows321 · 09/01/2021 08:54

I hope your parents get it very soon, sooner the better. Ps my first shift is next week there’s no way I’ll have time to chat on Mumsnet then Grin

PinkTonic · 09/01/2021 08:55

I’m taking my dad for his second jab in about an hour and a half. 😀

secretllama · 09/01/2021 09:07

My NHS worker friend is getting hers today Smile

Blessex · 09/01/2021 09:14

@PinkTonic ah that is so cool! I am getting more impressed how the U.K. is doing all this now. I think when we leave this to the army and everyday working people - that is when we will win!

Frazzled2207 · 09/01/2021 09:17

Pleased to hear these positive reports. I’m trying to sign up as a volunteer to help but it’s been really difficult. Am currently in the process with SJA.

MrsChicken89 · 09/01/2021 09:29

@Frazzled2207 I signed up through sja, theres lots of online courses to get through but its been fairly simple for me.

Frazzled2207 · 09/01/2021 09:37

@MrsChicken89
Thanks
The first two times basically my ID couldn’t be verified, they couldn’t tell me why. Anyway it looks like I got through the third time. Should I expect to hear soon do you think?

Blessex · 09/01/2021 09:47

I just signed up to volunteer. I work full time with no partner at home and two kids homeschooling but I have to do something at the weekends to help. I am not medical though so have signed up for transport and marshalling.

Zilla1 · 09/01/2021 09:54

Regarding getting it out more quickly with more vaccinators, ATM the bottleneck here is solely supply of vaccines, saline/vials and so on as everyone local has worked beyond, though that may change over time.

MrsChicken89 · 09/01/2021 10:27

@Frazzled2207 I would think so, they were pretty quick on emails with me.
Have you had your interview yet?

Frazzled2207 · 09/01/2021 10:37

@MrsChicken89
No I only got the email confirming that I’d finally jumped through the first hoop this morning. Hopefully soon. Feel like I really want to help. Emailed the local gp hub too who actually advertised for people as they are starting mass vaccinations in a big church locally next week (they asked people to email) and got nothing from there too.
