Some good news about immunity lasting 6-8 months plus

From business insider:

"Most people are making most parts of the immune response to this virus, and those parts are still around six to eight months later," Shane Crotty, a virologist at La Jolla Institute for Immunology in California and a co-author of the study, told Business Insider.

"This implies that there's a good chance people would have protective immunity, at least against serious disease, for that period of time, and probably well beyond that," Crotty said in a press release.“

From the research:

“ our data show immune memory in at least three immunological compartments was measurable in ~95% of subjects 5 to 8 months PSO, indicating that durable immunity against secondary COVID-19 disease is a possibility in most individuals.”

Yes I watched the John Campbell video on this too. It’s at least 5-8 months as that’s the only time
frame they have for now. Could well and hopefully will be a lot longer. Very positive news!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so! There is so much negativity around at the moment.

Yes!!!!! Grin
I am hoping for much longer, based on the years and years immune response to SARS.
It is great news! And hoping it gets even better!

Em777 · 09/01/2021 12:57

I think there’s a good chance it will end up being 2-3 years. Pretty in line with common cold type corona viruses.

Hopefully!

Yep t-cells from SARS are lasting at least 15 years..

T-cells also look important for immune response from this COVID-19

MushMonster · 10/01/2021 08:51

I do so much hope for those 15 years!
Also, I read an article saying that those immune to SARS had some immunity to covid already, so that would suggest that we would be ok with variants.
I am waiting for the studies on immunity of this new variant. To find out if any % of people who had covid did become unwell or ill with the new variant too. So far I have not seen anything official, but second infections are almost non-existant. So I have huge hope.
