Covid day 12

froggydoggy · 08/01/2021 23:13

I'm on day 12 of COVID and have experienced quite mild cold like symptoms along with a bit of a cough and slight shortness of breath at around day 7-9. I thought I was improving but today I have been totally struck by incredible fatigue, I'm so so tired and had slight shortness of breath which has now receded. My oxygen levels are normal (98%).
Has anyone else experienced this? I thought I was on the mendSad

Lots of us! Don't overdo it. You really need as much rest as possible.

I'm about 12 weeks in and still with fatigue.

froggydoggy · 08/01/2021 23:20

Thank you NovemberR I'm so sorry you're still feeling ill after all this time and it certainly isn't the news I was looking for, hoping you get well soon.

I'm going to find it difficult to take it easy, I have three kids between 16 &2 and home schooling has been very difficult today. How are people coping?

It goes like that for some people I'm afraid. I would strongly, strongly recommend that you rest as much as possible for the next couple of weeks and avoid anything strenuous even if you feel better in a few days.

Choconuttolata · 08/01/2021 23:28

I am day 12 too, spent yesterday vomiting with a severe headache. Nausea and fatigue today. Home schooling for my three also not fully happening at present. DH is just managing to feed and water the children and stop them running riot having just got out of hospital due to Covid.

I had glandular fever in my 20's and didn't rest as I should which led to years of chronic fatigue, so I would advise as others have that you not overdo it and rest as much you can.

Can the 16 year old help with younger ones?

If not can you give up on school work and put CBeebies or similar on? it's really crucial not to overdo it, I think. I had mild Covid...fluey and aching for a few days, thought it was going..then felt worse about Day 11 in and have never really kicked the chronic fatigue. like @Choconuttolata says, I'm just beginning to accept I need to stop doing anything now, as I don't want to be like this for months or years..

I’m 4 weeks on and only had mild symptoms even though asthmatic but feel hungover every day and cannot sleep enough. So tired.

froggydoggy · 09/01/2021 11:05

I'm sorry to hear this is so common😞 I spoke to a friend who had it weeks ago and she's also very tired still, she's also now suffering from hair loss!
I'm still feeling exhausted this morning, my two year old wants me dress up and dance with her, it's the last thing I feel up to doing😬

@Choconuttolata How are you feeling today?

Marginally better, I have kept down some tea and toast so far, headache now mild with regular pain relief. I now have the runs 🤢. Covid is just the gift that keeps giving.

Eldest child also nauseous and has a headache so has taken herself back off to bed. Middle one has a tooth infection and youngest has autism and has been leaping around full of beans since 6am whilst I lie here on the sofa.

DH is in bed as he over did it yesterday looking after us all and travelling to get antibiotics for middle child as he is the only one allowed out.

Today is going to be fun 🙄

froggydoggy · 09/01/2021 12:07

Sounds tough but glad you're feeling a little better. Make sure you look after yourself as much as possible, thank God it's Saturday!x

Thanks froggydoggy glad you are surviving too. It is a great thing that it is Saturday as I can do without the guilt of not managing to home school.

In other not great news, the boiler has decided today is the day to stop working. It was only serviced two months ago. Looks like sink washes and hot water bottles all round 😢

Hi, I tested positive on a lateral flow on 1.1.22.But had had a sore throat, bad head and aches since 30th.Tests before the 1st were all negative but I stayed home knowing I had it.
Took pcr on the 3rd which confirmed positive.
Have felt rough with many symptoms.
Sore throat
Slight cough
Bad headache
Body aches
Shivers
Sore chest
Nausea
Upset stomach
Dizziness
Confusion
Temperature
Bone chills like ice, couldn't get them warm
Dry lips
Sore eyes
Blurry eyes
Burning nose
Insane thirst
Palpitations
Weak shaky
Odd taste to foods
Can't stomach certain food or drink
Back ache
Bad fatigue, like suddenly just falling asleep for ages.
Also spates where I cannot sleep even tho absolutely drained
Leg cramps
Runny nose
Tight chest
Ringing ears
Dry mouth
Sore skin
Itchy toes
And probably more I've forgotten.

My problem is, I tested negative on day 7 and 8 so was allowed to leave the house. I didn't till day 10 as my son who lives here has also tested positive, the day after me so 2.1.22. He was still testing positive upto yesterday, his day 10.But I needed to get out for some supplies.
I had to do a bit of a cleaning job in my porch yesterday and have a feeling I have overdone it.
I was shattered half way through but all the stuff was outside so had to continue till done.
Had no appetite again last night and felt out of it yucky and very weak.

Woke up today on what would be day 12 since first positive and my chest hurts, it feels tight and sore. I am taking my peak flow and that is all as usual at my normal between 300-350. The oximeter is stating my oxygen levels are between 99-97 so that's all usual.
Has anyone else had the bad chest after covid, it was sore and I coughed at the beginning but now seems off again.

Mindymomo · 13/01/2022 06:59

@Lalb10. If your chest is still hurting after day 12, I would phone GP who may prescribe a short course of antibiotics and steroids to help you recover.
