Hi- I was on a shift with someone last weekend who was asymptomatic but tested positive at the beginning of the week.

What are the chances re transmission of the virus where no facemarks worn, in a confined space for 4 hours?

I am obviously self-isolating and waiting for test results back but the symptoms I have had apart from a very sightly raised temp after 4 days since contact are not usual ones- headache for 5 days that painkillers isn't touching, sore stomach and nauseousness and fatigue. No issues with sense of smell or cough.

Would appreciate your thoughts on how if someone isn't coughing this can spread?

I would say its 99.9% certain you have got it. Out of interest why were you not wearing face masks?

Unsure33 · 08/01/2021 20:11

They are all symptoms . I would say you have it .

Blimey. Not wearing masks as taking calls supporting people.

How does it spread if the person who has it hasn't got a cough. Only symptom he has - he says looking back- is feeling a bit more tired - but only after he got the test results.

Why are these symptoms not noted re gov website?

Stomach complaints and headaches are now relatively common symptoms. I’d say you’ve got it.

The fact that they were asymptotic doesn’t mean it’s less contagious or something

DragonMamma · 08/01/2021 20:16

It spreads from the droplets we all excrete when breathing, talking, laughing etc. You don’t have to be coughing and spluttering over somebody to pass it on.

Gingerbreadchoc · 08/01/2021 20:17

I would bet money on you having it too. Everything you’ve described is very common with Covid. It spreads through the aerosols as people talk, so being close together with no masks or ventilation means it could spread easily.

Thanks for replies- is the stomach thing to do with the mutation?

Also is the track and trace thing lagging? He popped my details in on Monday and I still haven't been notified.

They're not one of the main symptoms that mean you need a test, but they're still commonly caused by COVID. Here is the CDC (American health body) list of COVID symptoms: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html

Airborne transmission so him breathing in a confided space with you means he excretes the virus and you’ve breathed it in. This is quite basic science! Wearing masks would’ve given you some protection but you may still have got it. Why can’t you wear a mask taking a call?

Agree with PP, you’ve probably got it based on those symptoms.

Thank-you everyone- you have all been really helpful x
